To Study the Pre Operative Indicators of Incudal Necrosis in Tubo-Tympanic Chronic Otitis Media
In this study, it was observed that the presence of granulations over the perforation margins, disease persisting for more than 10 years, moderate to moderately severe hearing loss appear to be significant reliable indicators of incudal necrosis in tubo-tympanic type of CSOM. All patients of tubo-tympanic type of CSOM should be assessed in detail so as to reach early diagnosis of ossicular erosion that helps in surgical decision making and preparedness regarding ossiculoplasty and patient consent. Role of Imaging in Predicting the Deep Surgical Margin in Gingivobuccal Complex Cancers: A Pilot Study
AbstractCancers arising from the gingivobuccal complex are one of the most common types of cancer in the oral cavity and are associated with poor prognosis. Among the various prognostic factors, positive surgical margin is the most important one that can be controlled by the operating surgeon. The deep surgical margins for buccal mucosa cancers is normally assessed by palpating the skin for induration and skin pinchability. The present study evaluates the role of imaging in assessing the deep surgical margin and its efficacy for skin preservation in buccal mucosa/ gingivobuccal carcinomas. The patients of gingivobuccal com...

The Impact of Post-Birth Timing on OAE Test Efficacy: An Observational Analysis of Neonatal Hearing Screening
This study evaluates the efficacy of OAE screenings within the first five days after birth to determine the most effective timing. An observational study involved 1,013 full-term neonates at a tertiary care centre. These neonates underwent Transient Evoked Otoacoustic Emissions (TEOAE) screenings daily from Day 1 to Day 5, following WHO and JCIH guidelines. The study assessed pass rates, false positives, and false negatives, with follow-up screenings at one and three months for neonates with initial ambiguous results. The study found that screening efficiency significantly increased, with Day 1 pass rates at 8% (81 neonate...

Nasal Septum Deviation in Patients with Acute Invasive Fungal Rhinosinusitis in a Tertiary Care Hospital: A Cross-Sectional Study
AbstractThis is a retrospective study exploring the demographics and the role of nasal septum deviation in acute invasive fungal rhinosinusitis (AIFS); and if this deviation contributes to the laterality predilection of this opportunistic infection. Fifty-six craniofacial CT scans were evaluated by two radiologists blinded to the clinical data and outcome for laterality of the disease; and nasal septal deviation (NSD). NSD was graded based on the measured septal angle of deviation into mild, moderate, and severe and furtherly classified into one of seven types based on Mladina ’s classification. High prevalence of remark...

Outcome of Post Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery Nasal Irrigation with Normal Saline Versus Normal Saline with Budesonide in Patients with Sinonasal Polyposis: A Randomized Control Trial
In conclusion, saline plus budesonide nasal irrigation is a better option when compared to saline only irrigation in terms of efficacy and therapeutic effect in patients undergoing FESS for CRSwNP, hence, it should be advocated in regular clinical practice. A Prospective Cohort Study on Neck Lymph Node Mapping in Oral Cancers Using Methylene Blue Dye
AbstractIn the current scenario, the management of N0 neck in early-stage oral cancer is debatable, whether or not they should undergo elective neck dissection. Most of the time these patients are either over-treated or under-treated. Sentinel lymph node (SLN) biopsy is a good option to identify occult LN in this cohort of patients for guiding neck dissection. With a focus on SLN biopsy using methylene blue dye, this study aims to evaluate its feasibility and accuracy in node-negative oral squamous cell carcinoma. A prospective observational study was conducted involving operable squamous cell carcinoma patients with clini...

Cavernous Sinus Metastasis in Patients of Head & amp; Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma: A Series of Five Rare Instances and Review of Literature
AbstractHead and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) exhibits a higher degree of local aggressiveness as compared to a tendency for distant metastasis. Cavernous sinus metastasis from HNSCC is exceptionally rare, with only a handful of cases reported worldwide. This case series presents five instances showcasing an unusual metastatic pattern of HNSCC to the cavernous sinus, documented over one year in a single tertiary cancer care centre in Northeast India. Typically, the treatment of cavernous sinus metastasis involves radiotherapy and chemotherapy with a palliative intent. Unfortunately, the prognosis for this entity is...

Hidradenoma of Pinna -Report of a Rare Case at a Rare Site
AbstractThere are various reports of hidradenoma of cartilaginous part of external auricular canal (ear), but the documented evidence of occurrence of hidradenoma of pinna is seldom available in world literature, hence we report one such case. The patient was a 45-year female with a lump in the region of the posterior aspect of the pinna of the right ear for the past 6 months. No history of pain except for serous discharge from the lump. FNAC of the lump showed histological feature of hidradenoma. Wide surgical excision of the lump was done under local anaesthesia and sent for histopathological examination. HPE confirmed t...
