My Christmas Tree
Just wanted to pop in and share my Christmas tree. I got this tree back in 2016. Scott bought it for me for Christmas.   He asked me what I wanted and I mentioned I wanted a small pre-lit tree in an urn, for my living room. Since it is difficult to get out with Matt, he went to Home Depot to pick up the tree. After spending a lot of time on the website, I gave him two options: Option A and (Source: Dream Mom)

Christmas Decor 2018
For Christmas 2018, I wanted to add a little bit more glam to my living room. In 2016, I created my glam Christmas tree and in 2017 I went in to have my knee replacement done and learned I had uterine cancer. I had a complicated surgery because they couldn ' t get my uterus out. My uterus was twice as large as normal and up very high so they had to do an abdominal surgery. It was a 5.5 hour (Source: Dream Mom)

New Kitchen Rug
Right before Christmas my dishwasher broke. I tried to get it repaired but couldn ' t.   The repairman ended up getting water all over my hardwood floors and ruined my rug. The rug was five years old and I was ready for a new one. 😉 I looked all over for a true red rug. I had no idea how hard it would be to find one. I like a nice, bright kitchen and wanted a red rug to match my wedding china ( (Source: Dream Mom)

Fall Front Porch
Just wanted to share a few photos of my front porch for fall. We are doing fine. I had my front yard landscaped this summer and will show photos later but thought I would upload these real quick. The best part is that it was pretty budget friendly.  I had the wreath and added a doormat from Hobby Lobby. The buffalo check rug and pillow covers were from Amazon. I got the pair for $9.99 and (Source: Dream Mom)

Linen Closet Makeover
A few weeks ago, I decided to make over my linen closet. It was already organized but I needed to make " prettier " . I moved into my townhome a few years ago but with Matthew, everything seems to take a while. He is not in school anymore so I don ' t really have any free time to myself. It is kind of like being an ICU nurse and doing everything else you need to do on top of working 24/7. Anyway, (Source: Dream Mom)

2017 Updates
I can ’t believe it’s been 18 months since I’ve updated this blog, and I thank you for your interest.  It’s been a bit of a tough time but not because of Matt, since he is the “healthy one”!  Who could have predicted that, given his history! (Here is a picture of Scott cutting Matt ' s hair. I didn ' t plan on starting with this picture however this picture moved here and I can ' t seem to move it (Source: Dream Mom)

The Rose
I went into Matt ’s room last night to give him his 2 a.m. meds and he was smiling in his sleep. I couldn’t help but think about how beautiful he looked. Special needs kids are kind of like roses.  When they are born, you look around and wonder why you got the rose with all of the thorns when all of the ot her mothers got perfect flowers. At first, all you notice are the thorns because you (Source: Dream Mom)

Happy Halloween! Donald Trump wheelchair costume!
Happy Halloween! Even though we don't go out trick or treating, I still enjoy making a costume for Matt. We had a lot of fun doing it. He was laughing and smiling until I put the wig on and then he didn't like it very much. The wig was very small so maybe that was it. Overall, Matt never likes anything touching his face or his head. You can't blame a man for not wanting to wear a wig lol. I (Source: Dream Mom)

Updates
It's been a while since I've posted updates and since I've received a few emails, I thought I'd give it a try. It's pretty hard doing anything other than caring for Matt since I really don't have any free time now that he's not in school anymore. Overall, he's doing great. We recently got a new wheelchair for him so I snapped a few pictures with my phone. We had just walked outside to (Source: Dream Mom)

New Wheels!
Last week Scott surprised me and told me he wanted to buy me a wheelchair van for Matt.  At first I was reluctant however he really wanted to do this. As you know, we've needed a wheelchair van for quite some time.  I gave up my career many years ago to care for Matt and I just couldn't afford one. Last year, I purchased a ranch townhome for us but I couldn't afford to do that and get a (Source: Dream Mom)

Gallbladder Update
It's been a while since I did an update but it's been really busy here.  I can't tell you how much I appreciated all of your comments after our hospitalization in July.  We left the hospital with a bilary drain bag to drain the bile from his gallbladder. As you may recall, Matt was admitted to the hospital last July for breathing issues and it was found that he had a gallbladder infection. (Source: Dream Mom)

Home
We finally went home last Friday, July 18th. Matt was hospitalized from July 7-18th.  We were discharged right from the ICU, a hospital first.  Typically, we are required to transition to a hospital floor first. First, I need to thank you for your comments on my last post. They meant a lot to me.  I think the hardest part of these hospitalizations is feeling like you are alone in your (Source: Dream Mom)

Back in the Hospital
After nearly five years of good health, Matthew is back in the hospital.  As  you may recall, Matt's last major hospitalization was in November of 2009 when he contracted the H1N1 and a viral pneumonia and nearly died.  Since that time, I added Now Foods Organic Coconut Oil in 2010 and switched him to a blenderized diet of whole foods, mostly organic.  While he did get his Vagus Nerve Stimulator (Source: Dream Mom)

New House Bathroom Pictures
Happy 2014!  It's hard to believe we've been in our new house 8 months already. I feel like I did nothing but work like crazy all of 2013.  First it was looking for a home, then getting the mortgage, then getting ready to move, moving in and everything that comes with it. All while making all of Matt's food from scratch and taking care of him. Whew! It seemed like a lot. Now, things are (Source: Dream Mom)

Best Toys and Gifts for Special Needs Children
Back in 2006, I wrote a blog post titled, "Best Toys and Gifts for Special Needs Children". Since that time, it's been one of my most popular posts. Last year, I updated it and I thought I might reprint it again. I poured over the toy catalogs and websites looking for those toys that I thought were really good. I was amazed to find that there still wasn't a lot to pick from so I decided to do a (Source: Dream Mom)
