Dupilumab-associated psoriasis and psoriasiform manifestations: a scoping review
Background: Dupilumab is the first approved IL-4R α inhibitor for the treatment of atopic dermatitis (AD) at present with good efficacy and safety. However, there have been several reports of psoriasis and psoriasiform manifestations occurring after dupilumab therapy in recent years, showing a new paradoxical cutaneous reaction associated with bio logics. Summary: This is a scoping review in order to summarize the demographics and epidemiology, clinical manifestations, diagnosis, potential pathogenesis, and promising management of dupilumab-associated psoriasis and psoriasiform manifestations (DAPs/PsM). Key Message: The...

Cellular Senescence: Ageing and Androgenetic Alopecia
Androgenetic alopecia (AGA) is the most common type of hair loss and features a progressive miniaturization of hair follicles. Generally, the occurrence of AGA has long been thought to be driven by genetic and androgen predisposition. However, increasingly data proposed ageing and AGA are intimately linked. Elevated senescent cell burden, androgen and oxidative stress induced senescence mechanisms that occur in ageing may be initial targets to improve AGA. This review summarizes the biological links between ageing and AGA, with special focus on cellular senescence. In addition, we discuss the potential therapeutic strategi...

Clindamycin-benzoyl peroxide gel compared with clindamycin lotion for hidradenitis suppurativa; a randomized controlled assessor blinded intra-patient pilot study.
Background: Antibiotic resistance is a major concern, especially in HS. However, antibiotics form a cornerstone in its treatment. Topical clindamycin is known to cause bacterial resistance, but is still advised as monotherapy for the treatment of mild to moderate HS Methods This is a randomized controlled, assessor blinded, intra-patient pilot trial to compare the clinical efficacy of clindamycin-benzoyl peroxide gel with clindamycin lotion in patients with mild to moderate HS. Two contralateral body sites were randomized for treatment in each patient. The primary outcome was the difference in the International Hidraden...

Patient Perspectives on Psoriatic Disease Burden: Results from the Global Psoriasis and Beyond Survey
Background: Patients ’ understanding of the systemic nature of psoriatic disease (PsD) remains insufficiently explored. Objectives: To assess patients’ understanding of PsD, associated comorbidities, disease burden, and relationships with healthcare professionals (HCPs). Methods: Psoriasis and Beyond was a cross-sec tional, quantitative online survey conducted in patients with a self-reported, physician-given diagnosis of moderate to severe psoriasis (body surface area [BSA]>5% to (Source: Dermatology)

SARS-CoV-2 detection by digital polymerase chain reaction and immunohistochemistry in skin biopsies from 52 patients with different COVID-19-associated cutaneous phenotypes
Conclusions: SARS-CoV-2 was detected only in 38% of patients, without any association with a specific cutaneous phenotype, suggesting that the pathophysiology of cutaneous lesions mostly depends on the activation of the immune system. The combination of spike and nucleocapsid immunohistochemistry has higher diagnostic yield than dPCR. Skin persistence of SARS-CoV-2 may depend on timing of skin lesions, viral load and immune response. (Source: Dermatology)

Association of non-melanoma skin cancers, melanoma and merkel cell carcinoma with dermatologic medications, a case control pharmacovigilance study of the FDA Adverse Events Reporting System
Conclusions: The oral immunosuppressants and many biologic medications were associated with an increased ROR of skin cancers incl uding TNF-alpha inhibitors (etanercept, adalimumab, infliximab), IL-23 or IL 12/23 inhibitors (ustekinumab, risankizumab), and the CD-20 inhibitor rituximab, but not dupilumab or IL-17 inhibitors. Risk factors of quality-of-life and sexual function impairment in chronic spontaneous urticaria patients: cross-sectional study.
Background: Chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU) has been associated with poor quality of life and mood disturbances. However, factor associated to these dimensions have not been properly assessed. Moreover, there is a lack of studies regarding sexual dysfunction (SD) and CSU. Therefore, the aims of this study are to assess quality of life associated factors and to evaluate the prevalence and potential impact of SD in patients with CSU. Method: Cross-sectional study of patients suffering from CSU. Socio-demographic and disease activity variables, quality of life, sleep, SD, anxiety and depression were collected using valid...

Sweet Syndrome: A review of published cases
Sweet syndrome (SS), the prototypical neutrophilic dermatoses (ND), is characterized by abrupt onset of tender plaques and nodules, classically accompanied by fever and leukocytosis. While management mainly relies on systemic corticosteroids, inadequate response can be seen in some patients that necessitates exploring other treatment options. Early diagnosis of malignancy-associated SS along with detection of concomitant malignancy is crucial for improving patients ’ outcomes. Data regarding various clinical manifestations, extracutaneous associations, treatment and outcomes are poorly characterized in literature. We aim...

Chronic inflammatory intestinal disorders in hidradenitis suppurativa
The objectives of this study were to determine the occurrence of CIID in HS and characterise this clinical population. Furthermore, the feasibility of using fecal calprotectin (FC) test or anti-Saccharomyces cerevisiae antibody (ASCA) levels to assess the colonic inflammation of CIID in HS patients was investigated. Methods: All newly diagnosed and untreated HS patients (n=74) were referred to a gastroenterologist for FC followed by colonoscopy after informed consent. C-reactive protein (CRP), white blood cell count, nucleotide-binding-oligomerisation-domain-containing-protein-2 (NOD2) polymorphism, and ASCA levels were m...

Successful treatment of prurigo nodularis by dupilumab: Report of 24 patients
This study is a retrospective cohort study. Twenty-four adult patients with prurigo nodularis were included and treated with dupilumab. The primary outcomes were the mean reduction in the Investigator ’s Global Assessment (IGA) score, and pruritus numeric rating scale (p-NRS) score. Outcomes were assessed at baseline, week 4, week16, and week 36. Results: The study included 24 patients, while 9 (37.5%) were male, and the mean(SD) age of the enrolled patients was 49.88 ± 16.71 years. At the end of treatment, the mean p-NRS score decreased from 7.50 ± 2.21 to 1.41 ± 0.91 (P (Source: Dermatology)
