Chem Asian J. 2024 Apr 18:e202400218. doi: 10.1002/asia.202400218. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTWe have successfully synthesized a new Ni(II)-based coordination polymer (CP) [Ni2(cis-1,4-chdc)2(4,4'-bpy)3(H2O)2] (1); (cis-1,4- H2chdc = cis-1,4-cyclohexanedicarboxylic acid and 4,4'-bpy = 4,4'-bipyridine) employing slow diffusion method in a single pot technique. The connectivity of Ni(II) ions and bridging cis-1,4-chdc ligand gives rise to a three-dimensional (3D) framework with 2-fold interpenetrated diamondoid topology. Interestingly, the synthesized CP acts as efficient catalyst for electrocatalytic water splitting. The...

Modelling on a Biomimetic [Cu-O-Cu]2+-mediated Methane-to-Methanol Conversion Unveils the Site for Methane Activation
Chem Asian J. 2024 Apr 16:e202400282. doi: 10.1002/asia.202400282. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe Cu-O-Cu core exhibits methane-to-methanol conversion, mirroring the reactivity of the copper-containing enzyme pMMO. Herein, we computationally examined the reactivity of a biomimetic Cu-O-Cu core towards methane-to-methanol conversion. The oxygen atom of the Cu-O-Cu core abstracts hydrogen present in the C-H bond of methane. The spin density at the bridging oxygen helps to abstract hydrogen from the C-H bond. We modulated the spin density of the bridging oxygen by substituting only a single copper atom of the Cu-O-Cu core ...

COAP-Pd Catalyzed Asymmetric Formal [3+2] Cycloaddition for Optically Active Multistereogenic Spiro Cyclopentane-Indandiones Bearing Cyclic N-Sulfonyl Ketimine Skeletons
We reported a chiral oxamide-phosphine ligand (COAP-Ph)-Pd-catalyzed asymmetric [3+2] cycloaddition reaction between vinyl cyclopropane derived from 1,3-indanedione and 2-vinylcyclopropane-1,1-dicarboxylates with cyclic sulfonyl 1-azadienes. The corresponding reactions provided a series of enantiomerically active spiro cyclopentane-indandione and cyclopentane structures bearing three consecutive stereogenic centers in good yields with good diastereo- and enantioselectivity. The COAP-Pd complex serves not only to promote generation of chiral π-allyl-palladium intermediates and induce the asymmetry of the reaction, but also...

Chem Asian J. 2024 Apr 17:e202400101. doi: 10.1002/asia.202400101. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTTwo uranium oxide hydrate frameworks (UOHFs) with either Dy3+ or Lu3+ ions, Dy1.36(H2O)6[(UO2)10UO13(OH)4] (UOHF-Dy) or Lu2(H2O)8[(UO2)10UO14(OH)3] (UOHF-Lu), were synthesized hydrothermally and characterized with a range of structural and spectroscopic techniques. Although SEM-EDS analysis confirmed the same atomic ratio of ~5.5 for U:Dy and U:Lu, they displayed different crystal morphologies, needles for UOHF-Dy in the orthorhombic C2221 space group and plates for UOHF-Lu in the triclinic P-1 space group. Both frameworks are ...

Square-planar Tetranuclear Cluster-based Alkaline Earth Metal-organic Frameworks with Enhanced Proton Conductivity
Chem Asian J. 2024 Apr 17:e202400175. doi: 10.1002/asia.202400175. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTAlkaline earth (AE) metal complexes have garnered significant interest in various functional fields due to their nontoxicity, low density, and low cost. However, there is a lack of systematic investigation into the structural characteristics and physical properties of AE-metal-organic frameworks (MOFs). In this research, we synthesized isostructural MOFs consisting of AE4(μ4-Cl) clusters bridged by benzo-(1,2;3,4;5,6)-tris(thiophene-2'-carboxylic acid) (BTTC3-) ligands. The resulting structure forms a truncated octahedral cage...

Zinc-Substituted Hemoglobin-Albumin Cluster as a Porphyrin-Carrier for Enhanced Photodynamic Therapy
Chem Asian J. 2024 Apr 17:e202400257. doi: 10.1002/asia.202400257. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTApohemoprotein is focused on the field of theranostics, serving as a porphyrin carrier. Hemoglobin (Hb) consists of α2β2 tetramer with iron(II)-protoporphyrin IX (heme) bound to each globin. However, heme-removed Hb (apoHb) causes dissociation at αβ interfaces and aggregation under physiological conditions. We synthesized a stable apoHb derivative comprising intramolecular-crosslinked apoHb (apoXHb) and human serum albumin (HSA), apoXHb-HSA3. ApoXHb-HSA3 engendered no aggregates in the physiological solutions. Moreover, apo...
