The importance of fetal autopsy: An institutional review and development of best practices for reporting size and estimating gestational age at demise
CONCLUSIONS: "Best practice" suggestions for sizing and dating fetuses/neonates in the postmortem period have been developed to aid in delivering clear, consistent reports. Because fetal and neonatal autopsy is an invaluable tool for understanding the factors that contribute to stillbirth, it is important to use appropriate sizing and dating methods and consistent language to deliver proper patient education and clinical guidance.PMID:37921079 | DOI:10.1093/ajcp/aqad147 (Source: American Journal of Clinical Pathology)

Immune microenvironment of intimal sarcomas: Adaptive immune resistance with potential therapeutic implications
CONCLUSIONS: These data show that intimal sarcomas have an active tumor microenvironment with an adaptive pattern of PD-L1 expression. Our results suggest that immunotherapy may be an effective treatment option.PMID:37921094 | DOI:10.1093/ajcp/aqad142 (Source: American Journal of Clinical Pathology)

Determination of age-dependent bone marrow normocellularity
CONCLUSIONS: The findings revealed a more stable and slower rate of decline in cellularity with age in adults than the widely used linear model of "100% minus the patient age in decades." Normocellularity is better modeled based on age group. In those younger than 20 years of age, normocellularity ranges from 45% to 85% (mean [SD], 65% [20%]), as defined by Friebert et al in 1998. Based on our study finding of a little less than 3% decline per decade of age, the following is our recommendation for normocellularity range: For individuals 20 to 40 years of age, it ranges from 40% to 70% (mean [SD], 55% [15%]); for individual...

Prognostic role of the log odds of positive lymph nodes in Western patients with resected gastric cancer: A comparison with the 8th edition of the TNM staging system
CONCLUSIONS: For our cohort, the LODDS system showed better prognostic performance than pN stage; it was an independent predictor of OS and DFS, and it provided valuable prognostic information in cases without lymph node metastases. Its prognostic accuracy, however, decreased in cases with fewer than 16 lymph nodes resected.PMID:37901915 | DOI:10.1093/ajcp/aqad119 (Source: American Journal of Clinical Pathology)

168 Cases of aneurysmal dermatofibroma and 29 cases of hemosiderotic dermatofibroma: A clinicopathologic study
CONCLUSIONS: Our findings indicate a potential close relationship between ADF and HDF. Contrary to conventional beliefs, we also presented the possibility of ADF progressing into HDFs. Physical trauma may induce ADF, and HDFs may emerge from ADFs in conjunction with venous stasis in the lower extremities.PMID:37897209 | DOI:10.1093/ajcp/aqad136 (Source: American Journal of Clinical Pathology)
