The utility of fallopian tube cytology in the early detection of extrauterine serous gynecological malignancies: a narrative literature review ”
Conclusions: Our findings indicate that, at present, there is a lack of satisfying evidence-based data in the literature which would support the implementation of fallopian tube brush cytology as an adjun ctive tool for early detection of extrauterine serous gynecological cancer. Thus, we believe that there is need for well-designed clinical studies to assess the effectiveness and diagnostic accuracy of the method as well as to validate the cytological criteria for the diagnosis and prediction of gyn ecological malignancies. Cytologic Findings in Serous Effusion Specimens from Melanoma Patients
Discussion: Effusion specimens from patients with a history of melanoma are frequently (40%) malignant but almost as likely to be reported as a nonmelanoma malignancy as MM. The cytology of MM may mimic a wide range of other metastatic malignancies but also often closely resembles reactive mesothelial cells. It is important to be aware of this latter pattern so that IHC markers can be applied. (Source: Acta Cytologica)

Comparison of the clinical performance of Aptima HPV assay and the Cobas 4800 platform in women with normal cytology and positive high-risk HPV
Conclusion: We recommend analyzing the performances of hrHPV platforms in future larger s tudies in patients with normal cytology, rather than only cases with abnormal cytology. (Source: Acta Cytologica)

The Application of the Proposed Sydney System for Reporting Lymph Node Cytopathology: A Five-Year Experience of an Academic Institution in South India
Conclusion: The study substantiates the usefulness of the proposed Sydney system in lymph node cytopathology in enhancing better communication between clinicians and cytopathologists. The use of ancillary techniques like immunocytochemistry and flow cytometry will aid in arriving at a more precise diagnosis. (Source: Acta Cytologica)

Role of Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology in the Diagnosis of Gynecologic Tumors
Background: The tumors involving the gynecologic tract encompass a wide range of lesions including those of epithelial, mesenchymal, sex cord-stromal, and germ cell origin. Amongst the carcinomas of tubo-ovarian origin, high-grade serous carcinoma is the most common malignancy. The primary role of fine needle aspiration (FNA) cytology in the management of gynecologic tract malignancies is in the diagnosis of their recurrences/metastases. In patients presenting with advanced disease, the cytology specimen may be the initial or the only sampling performed before the initiation of treatment.Summary: This review will discuss t...
