Imaging surveillance suggested for radial scars found on DBT
Imaging surveillance may be the way to go for monitoring radial scars without atypia found on screening digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT), research published March 13 in the American Journal of Roentgenology found.
In a study, Claire Crowley and Manisha Bahl, MD, from Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, found that screening-detected radial scars without atypia at core-needle biopsy have a low upstaging rate to breast cancer of less than 2%.

Use CAD to assess breast tissue volume on MRI
Using computer-assisted detection (CAD) software to assess enhancing breast tissue as a percentage of the entire breast volume on contrast MR imaging shows promise for improving breast cancer diagnosis, researchers have found.
The study results could help streamline workflow in busy radiology departments and perhaps even make breast MRI more accessible, wrote a team led by Barbara I. Bennani-Baiti, MD, of the Medical University of Vienna in Austria. The findings were published March 12 in the Journal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging.

Tracking breast cancer method of detection shows impact of screening
Standardized identification of the initial method of detection of breast cancer is feasible across different practice sites, according to a study published March 11 in the Journal of the American College of Radiology.
The study results could offer important data about the impact of screening in the U.S., wrote a team led by Sujata Ghate, MD, of Duke University in Durham, NC.
