Settle in life or reach for the stars?
So I am deciding on being a physical therapist or a dentist. Both professions I have shadowed and both professions I enjoy the predictability and the environment of both. Each profession has both their pros and cons, so I am wondering if I should just settle or go for the more difficult path, but has much more potential upsides. So here is the list that I can think of in my head. Just fyi I am 26 years old so I feel like I am getting older and need to get started with my life already.... Jobs for unlicensed BDS
Hey FTDs I am looking for jobs that would accept BDS as qualification (have PR so no visa issues here). Right now, i guess dental assisting is the job ,that most foreign dentists pursue. Is it easy to find job with BDS in general ? Are US dentists willing to offer Dental assistant job for foreign dentist? Are we treated equal to US dental assistants or are dentist more likely to hire them over foreign dentists? How is the pay ? Entry level for example If anyone had luck finding any other... 2.9 GPA/22 DAT Any chance at all?
I had a fantastic GPA my first two years, and then depression decided to hit me and then I got slain for 3 semesters straight. I did well in my final semester. I have two letters of recommendation from professors and one from a dentist. I've only got 100 service hours, and around 200 hours shadowing/volunteering at a dentist's office. I was a chemistry tutor and TA my first year and a half. Biology BS. Did well on the DAT, but that seems to be the only thing I've got going for me. I went to... 2.9 GPA/22 DAT Any chance at all? Letters of Wreckommendation
Hey guys, quick question. What schools should I EXCLUDE from my application, given that I have: -2 science letters -1 non-science letter -1 letter from dentist I couldn't find the list that condenses letter requirements by school on here, so if someone could link me that'd be cool... I'm just seeing what schools I shouldn't apply to given that these are my only letters. Thanks! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

How long should LORs be?
Hi, How long is the letter of recommendation supposed to be? My dentist wrote me a 200 word letter. Is that okay or too short? Also, how are they supposed to sign the letter? Dental vs Pharmacist?
I am choosing between dentistry and pharmacy. My gpa is around 3.4. What are the advantages of both? Pharmacy seems like an easier job which is something im looking for, although I hear the market is becoming saturated. On the other hand, dentists have the highest suicide rate, so that job does not seem ideal. Dentists make more money than pharmacists on average though. Which profession should I choose and why? Will the job market for pharmacy improve in the next 4 years? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Has anyone been able to shadow at a major corporate office?
I'm talking a Western Dental or somewhere similar. I'd like to shadow at one to be able to compare the difference, but of the several offices I've called, none have agreed to it. Some have "passed my message along" to the dentist, but the response is usually something along the lines that the dentist is "too busy" or doesn't recommend it. I understand there is a cultural difference between a private office and a corporate office, but I want to see it first hand. I'm starting to wonder... I really want to steal my ex girlfriend from her current boyfriend as much as I want to be a dentist. Internship or Residency?
I graduated DS in another country and after spent a year treating patients under supervision of a dentist at different clinics. Licensure question: Study in IL, Practice in MA?
Will studying dentistry in another part of the country make it more difficult to pass the licensure exams and find employment elsewhere? My dentist told me that the curriculum is related to that state's exam and that if I planned to practice elsewhere, I might be well-advised to go to school in that part of the country. I hope to study in Illinois and practice in MA. Is this something I should consider? Tuition and living costs are $200K more than my cheapest state school. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

I have been accepted to dental school for this upcoming fall. Struggling to "like" dentistry
I have been in practice for just over a year now in two different associate positions. Things are going good in terms of clinical skills (ie. This question is more directed towards practicing dentists, but any constructive feedback is welcome. To the point, what are some currently marketed surface engineered titanium implants that you have seen?
