Mentioning Erectile Dysfunction in Personal Statement/Secondaries?
I am a young man who has been struggling with ED and other urological issues. It seems like it is usually not recommended that personal health problems be mentioned in the application, especially something that is a rather taboo subject. In my case, it wasn't the physicians treating me who inspired me to enter medicine. I have started a support group for young men with similar issues in part because doctors do not adequately address our concerns. It was helping other men dealing with... Searching for truth
If someone is diagnosed with a mental health illness what is it that classifies them as ill? If someone is under extreme pressure through the general struggles of life and sleeps with someone other than their spouse as a coping mechanism... What's the difference between that and somebody who experiences psychosis and freaks out or explodes with anger as a result of extreme life struggles? If that is their coping mechanism, yes it wrong just as inferdelitly is wrong. They both have negitive... Searching for truth (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Should I take a Gap Year (2ish years) or go to D.O school?
Hi everyone, I applied to medical school this cycle was not accepted at any schools ugh. I have a 3.85 GPA/Phi Beta Kappa but I believe my low mcat of 506 and being Indian prevented me from an acceptance. I've presented posters at SfN, have good ECs, done global health work in Africa, and 100+ clinical volunteering. I feel like the only thing holding me back from a US MD school is my low mcat. I am considering taking a gap year and retaking the mcat and applying for the 2017-2018... Should I take a Gap Year (2ish years) or go to D.O school? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

The Future of Medical Education
by goliszek (Posted Wed May 04, 2016 6:22 am)Looking at curricula at different medical schools around the country, we get some clues as to what medical education will look like in the near future. For students entering classes in 2016 and beyond, and who’ve grown up around technology and the new changes in healthcare, medical school will be nothing like it was even five years ago. Here are just some of the innovations and new changes being implemented by some of the leading schools in the nation:• A focus on technology: because today’s applicants are much more tech savvy, and since medical advances are happening at b...

what to pick for 3 most meaningful experiences AMCAS
I do not want this to sound dumb because obviously you pick your "3 most meaningful experiences", but do you think it is smart to pick 1 service, 1 clinical and 1 research? I am applying to schools that are more focused on primary care and community health, so do you think it would be wise to pick my 3 most meaningful experiences as different service and work I have done in the community? Podcasts and/or audio lectures to listen to during commute?
I start PTA school in August and I have a 2hour 10 minute round trip commute (on a good day) that I will be making by driving my own car, presumably alone. Since public transportation is not an option, I cannot use this time to read texts or review notes so I'm looking for podcasts or audio lectures that would make the drive as productive as possible. Am I studying for boards too soon/will I burn out?
I know boards are no joke and to be quite honest, they terrify me. Wisconsin vs. Iowa
I am down to Wisconsin and Iowa and believe that I would be happy at either. I am just curious to know if anyone has thoughts that I have not considered. I have two major considerations: 1) My career interests are in population/public health, primary care delivery, and health policy. I have every intention of becoming a general internist and would like to be involved in academia or some kind of policy non-profit. Iowa vs Emory
Hey guys!! Just trying to get some advice here! I have been accepted to both Iowa and Emory, and I am in a bind of which one to attend. Price is an issue, as Iowa would cost me around 31k/yr in tuition while emory would be about 42k/yr, plus the increased cost of living in Atlanta. I am in-state for Iowa, and went to Iowa for undergrad as well, so a change of scenery would be nice. I know that the CDC is associated with Emory and it has a great global health program, which is what I want to... Iowa vs Emory (Source: Student Doctor Network)

mental health referral question for fam med docs
Hey All, I'm a clinical psychologist that has experience in family medicine in the past and am in a new location, but looking to be in an integrated primary care situation again, this time most likely outside of a family medicine residency (but maybe not). Hi everyone. I'm currently wrapping up my junior year at college and recently had a change of heart about what I want my degree to be. One in healt/sports science with a minor in Spanish and one in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. This change would actually only set me back a year (meaning over all 5 years in college) My question is, considering I have a... 2 degrees in 5 years. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

UCSF vs. NYU (full ride)
Looking for some guidance here. I just got notified that I got a full tuition + cost of living scholarship from NYU. I've also gotten into UCSF. I really love both locations for different reasons (hiking vs. culture, closer to family vs. closer to friends). I'm interested in going into OB/GYN which is why I was so excited about UCSF.
