Class C misdemeanor family violence assault. Is it still possible?
I have a few red flags on my application. Lots of withdrawals and two class C misdemeanors, one of which is simple assault. Is it even worth it for me? I just want some closure so I can look into other career options. I would be very happy being a nurse or a tech in health care, because that is where I want to be. Or will these mistakes rule out any possibility of that happening? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Pre Med in Community College
So I'm fairly new here so I am very sorry if a similar thread to this has already been made. I'm about to start my freshman year of college. I decided to start in community college due to my financial situation and also my mental health. Community college is by far the best option for me at the time but I worry that it will put me in a disadvantage when I begin to apply to medical school. I am planning to get an Associates in science and I have already chosen my courses: Intro to Psych, pre... Pre Med in Community College (Source: Student Doctor Network)

I want to get an MPH between 2nd/3rd years of med school, worried about matching. Thoughts?
Hey everyone, Hope this reaches you all during a fun and fulfilling summer. Background: I am entering my 2nd year of medical school. Have always loved public health (working with communities, keeping environment clean, preventative care, etc.). I know I will at some point want to serve in this area, even just a little. Question: It almost seems like a dream to be able to get an MPH during medical school. However, I also want to match into whatever residency may be of interest to me... As a whole, what is your mostly prescribed anti-hypertensive drug?
Dear Alll: Hypertension is according to the World Health Organization the number 1 risk factor for death. And every now and then new guidelines from the USA, Europe, Australia, etc.....are issued for hypertension treatment. Good to have your thoughts - and your votes - on this.  All Best, Joey. @jmariofoliveira   (Source: Doc2Doc BMJ Cardiology)

What is this secondary question actually asking?
Here's the question: "9. Other than healthcare access, what are some of the most important health care issues confronting underserved communities? How would you address them?" I'm confused about "how would you address them?" What sort of power does this question assume that I have? Is the question assuming that I can direct public policy, such as by subsidizing produce vendors in disadvantaged neighborhoods? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

How to become a mental health professional in the air force
I am a 28 year old dual diagnosed recovering addict, who is looking to turn things around. I hope to join the air force and ultimately become a psychiatrist or a psychiatric nurse. Can some one help me on the path to take for such an endeavor? I have almost a neuroscience degree finished from a decent university but I want to do something positive for other people in my life. I think the military will help me get things in order, guide me in my goals, make me a better person. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

totally wrong
First, I am a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner student not a psych resident. I do go to a very competitive school. Anyway, this is really humiliating but I have a crush on the medical director at my internship and I am pretty sure he likes me too. (He is divorced). Every time I see him he tells me he wants me to work there when I graduate, which I interpret as him wanting to make the hospital "look better" by "recruiting" interns - so I don't really know if it has anything to do... totally wrong (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Hey guys. I am a freshmen at stony brook university who doesn't exactly have a major. I was looking into all the different majors/programs here and one that really stood out to me was the CLS and BIO double major. Paying/Funding a Ph.D.: University Research or Outside Work?
Hi everyone, I was accepted to my Ph.D. program in Public Health (specializing in Epidemiology) this past week and have a quick question in terms of funding. Here are my two options: I currently work as a biostatistician for my state government and was just promoted to a supervisory position overseeing the activities of all biostatisticians within our bureau. Public Health PhD while in Med School
Hi all, I'm currently finishing up my MPH and will start med school this fall. I have really enjoyed the research involved in my thesis and would like to further my education and likely end up in academia. My research interests are primarily clinically oriented with my MPH having a strong emphasis on social and behavioral determinants of health. My questions is: Are there any PhD programs in public health (possibly epi or behaviorism, although not policy) that are capable of being... Reapplying advice needed
I applied last cycle to 34 schools (sprinkled out mostly among the top 50 research schools with preference for CA and NY, avoided OOS public schools although maybe that was a mistake), received just 2 interviews, and ended up waitlisted at both (1 top-tier, 1 upper-mid). For a while, I was wondering if I'd made some sort of fatal error in my application, but I called a few schools and two of them told me it was just a problem with not "rising to the top." In some residency you don't get paid. How does that work? What are the hours like then if you don't get paid? Will you be able to hold a full or part time job to get some income while you do the residency? Does the residency at least provide benefits such as health insurance. (Source: Student Doctor Network)
