Effectiveness and safety of biological and target synthetic drugs treatment for psoriatic arthritis: a systematic review with network meta-analysis
CONCLUSIONS: In conclusion, based on the balance between efficacy and safety, Secukinumab and Adalimumab may be the preferred options among the evaluated drugs for treating patients with PsA. However, caution is necessary when interpreting the safety findings, as they are supported by evidence of low to very low certainty. Consequently, the balance between benefits and potential risks may change as new safety evaluation studies become available.PROTOCOL REGISTRATION: PROSPERO: CRD42022315577.PMID:38515177 | DOI:10.1186/s42358-024-00361-3 (Source: Adv Data)

Prevalence estimates of tuberculosis infection in adults in Denmark: a retrospective nationwide register-based cross-sectional study, 2010 to 2018
ConclusionEstimated TBI prevalence is low in Denmark. We estimate that 200,000 persons have TBI and thus are at risk of developing TB. Screening for TBI and preventive treatment, especially in persons born in high TB incidence countries or immunosuppressed, are crucial to reduce the risk of and eliminate TB.PMID:38516789 | DOI:10.2807/1560-7917.ES.2024.29.12.2300590 (Source: Euro Surveill)

CCL19 ‐Positive Lymph Node Stromal Cells Govern the Onset of Inflammatory Arthritis via Tropomyosin Receptor Kinase
ConclusionCCL19+ lymph node stromal cells are crucially involved in the development of inflammatory arthritis. Therefore, targeting of CCL19+ lymph node stromal cells via TRK could provide a tool to prevent arthritis. (Source: Arthritis and Rheumatology)

The association between genetic polymorphisms of matrix metalloproteinases and knee osteoarthritis: A systematic review and meta ‐analysis
ConclusionsPresent evidence suggested that the gene polymorphisms of MMP-1-1607 1G/2G may not be associated with the risk of OA. But, the dominant model of MMP-3 and MMP-13 polymorphisms in Asian ethnicity was significantly correlated with knee OA. (Source: International Journal of Rheumatic Diseases)

Prognosis and prognostic factors of lung cancer complications in patients with rheumatoid arthritis
ConclusionsEarly detection of lung cancer is needed, especially in patients with RA who have a history of smoking, seropositivity, or interstitial lung disease. Even after surgical resection, it should be noted that squamous cell carcinoma is prone to recurrence. (Source: International Journal of Rheumatic Diseases)

Evaluation of the effectiveness of using prednisolone, tacrolimus, and intravenous immunoglobulin combination therapy on immune ‐mediated necrotizing myopathy—A non‐randomized, observational research
ConclusionThe combination therapy of prednisolone, tacrolimus, and IVIG has demonstrated favorable efficacy in IMNM and broadened the treatment options for this disease. However, the results still require further validation by large-scale and randomized controlled studies. (Source: International Journal of Rheumatic Diseases)

A High Threshold of Biotherapeutic Aggregate Numbers is Needed to Induce an Immunogenic Response In Vitro, In Vivo, and in the Clinic
ConclusionThe ability of biotherapeutic aggregates to elicit an immune responsein vitro,in vivo, and in the clinic depends on high numbers of particles. This suggests that there is a high threshold for aggregates to induce an immunogenic response which is well beyond that seen in standard biotherapeutic drug products. Patient reported outcomes following total shoulder arthroplasty and hemiarthroplasty: An analysis of data from the National Joint Registry
Total shoulder arthroplasty (TSA) and hemiarthroplasty (HA) are used in the management of end stage glenohumeral arthritis. Improvement in shoulder function and resolution of symptoms are high priorities for patients. The aim of this study was to compare patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) following TSA and HA. COVID-19 Associated With Higher Risk of Autoimmune Diseases
People who were infected with SARS-CoV-2 had a 25% higher risk of later being diagnosed with an autoimmune inflammatory rheumatic disease (AIRD) after infection than those who weren ’t infected, according to a large cohort study that included more than 22 million participants in Japan and South Korea. They also had a 30% greater risk of developing AIRD, such as systemic lupus erythematosus or rheumatoid arthritis, compared with people who had influenza, the researchers report ed in the Annals of Internal Medicine.
