Mild traumatic brain injury-induced persistent blood –brain barrier disruption is prevented by cyclosporine A treatment in hypertension
DiscussionWe propose that mTBI and hypertension interact to promote BBB disruption via the CyPA-NF-kB-MMP-9 pathway, and inhibition of cyclophilin production after mTBI may exert neuroprotection and improve cognitive function in hypertensive patients. (Source: Frontiers in Neurology)

Apoptosis, necroptosis, and pyroptosis as alternative cell death pathways induced by chemotherapeutic agents?
Biochim Biophys Acta Rev Cancer. 2023 Nov 17:189024. doi: 10.1016/j.bbcan.2023.189024. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTFor decades, common chemotherapeutic drugs have been established to trigger apoptosis, the preferred immunologically "silent" form of cell death. The primary objective of this review was to show that various FDA-approved chemotherapeutic drugs, including cisplatin, cyclosporine, doxorubicin, etoposide, 5-fluorouracil, gemcitabine, paclitaxel, or vinblastine can trigger necroptosis and pyroptosis. We aimed to provide the advantages and disadvantages of the induction of the given type of cell death by chemothe...

Reaching the cyclosporine a level target slowly in four weeks correlates with better prognosis for Chinese patients after allogeneic haematopoietic cell transplantation
CONCLUSION: For Chinese patients, early introduction and reaching the target CsA concentration within four weeks after allo-HSCT have a positive effect on preventing GvHD, especially in the fourth week after HSCT. Compared to the Western population, the target CsA concentration is lower and the time required to reach the target (within 4 weeks) is longer in the Chinese population (274.75 ng/mL).PMID:37975575 | DOI:10.1080/16078454.2023.2275893 (Source: Hematology)
