The effect of Nigella sativa extracts against Porphyromonas gingivalis isolated from periodontitis patients
CONCLUSIONS: This study's findings suggest that N. sativa can be utilized against periodontitis as an adjunct to scaling since it has high antibacterial action against P. gingivalis.PMID:37975389 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202311_34344 (Source: Pharmacological Reviews)

Evaluation of graded recession of inferior oblique muscle for correction of different grades of V-pattern strabismus
V pattern identification is essential for proper strabismus management. Graded recession is a tailored approach to treat inferior oblique overaction (IOOA). The aim is to evaluate the efficacy of graded recess... (Source: BMC Ophthalmology)

United we thrive: friendship and subsequent physical, behavioural and psychosocial health in older adults (an outcome-wide longitudinal approach)
CONCLUSIONS: Our findings indicate that stronger friendships can have a dual impact on health and well-being. While stronger friendships appear to mainly promote a range of health and well-being outcomes, stronger friendships might also promote negative outcomes. Additional research is needed, and any future friendship interventions and policies that aim to enhance outcomes should focus on how to amplify positive outcomes while mitigating harmful ones.PMID:37964589 | DOI:10.1017/S204579602300077X (Source: Epidemiology and Psychiatric Sciences)

Treatment of Gingival Recession in Multiple Teeth Using Coronally Advanced Flap with Connective Tissue Graft: A Case Report
This report describes a case of gingival recession in multiple teeth with severe dentin hypersensitivity (DH) in which treatment included periodontal plastic surgery. The patient was a 34-year-old woman presenting with the chief complaint of DH at gingivalrecession sites. The patient had undergone orthodontic treatment when she was 30 years old. An initial examination revealed that none of the sites showed a probing depth of ≥4 mm and 21% of sites bleeding on probing. The clinical diagnosis was plaque-induced gingivitis. Teeth #14, 16, 23, 25, 26, 34, 35, 45, and 46 showed gingival recession ranging from 1 to 4 mm. Gingi...

A Case Report of Periodontal Regenerative Therapy Using Recombinant Human Fibroblast Growth Factor 2 and Deproteinized Bovine Bone Mineral with Non-incised Papillae Surgical Approach (NIPSA) for Angular Bone Defect in Patient with Stage III Grade C Periodontitis
This report describes a case of Stage III Grade C periodontitis requiring periodontal regenerative therapy. The patient was a 19-year-old woman who presented with the chief complaint of gingival recession in the incisor region. An initial examination revealed that 45.3% of sites had a probing depth of ≥4 mm and 45.8% bleeding on probing. Radiographic examination showed angular bone resorption in #25, 26, 31, 36, and 46 and horizontal resorption in other regions. Initial periodontal therapy was implemented based on a clinical diagnosis of Stage III Grade C periodontitis (generalized aggressive periodontitis). Occlusal adj...

Laser-Assisted Minimally Invasive Nonsurgical Therapy in Treating Severely Periodontally Compromised Teeth: A Case Series
Int J Periodontics Restorative Dent. 2023 Oct 24;(7):s314-s325. doi: 10.11607/prd.6295.ABSTRACTMinimally invasive nonsurgical treatment (MINST) aims to remove an etiology with minimal damage to the healthy periodontium and provide the ideal healing environment. This case series introduces the novel protocol of laser-assisted MINST (LAMINST), combining minimally invasive surgery with a dental laser. A total of 25 patients (32 teeth) with advanced periodontal disease were enrolled and received periodontal treatment by following the LAMINST protocol. Probing depth (PD), recession, clinical attachment level (CAL), bleeding on ...
