Significance of definitive concurrent chemoradiotherapy for vulvar cancer: a Japanese Gynecologic Oncology Group nationwide survey study
ConclusionsOur analysis revealed that CCRT should be recommended, especially for Stage III VC patients. Further studies are warranted to determine who benefits from CCRT, considering primary tumor size and LN status. The study was registered at the University Hospital Medical Information Network (protocol number: UMIN000017080) on April 8th, 2015. Radiation doses received by major organs at risk in children and young adolescents treated for cancer with external beam radiation therapy: a large-scale study from 12 European countries.
Childhood cancer survivors are at high risk of long-term iatrogenic events, in particular those treated with radiotherapy. The prediction of risk of such events is mainly based on the knowledge of the radiation dose received to healthy organs and tissues during treatment of childhood cancer diagnosed decades ago. Cost-effectiveness of intraoperative radiation therapy versus intensity-modulated radiation therapy for the treatment of early breast cancer: a disinvestment analysis
Adjuvant radiotherapy represents a key component in curative-intent treatment for early-stage breast cancer patients. In recent years, two accelerated partial breast irradiation (APBI) techniques are preferred... (Source: BMC Health Services Research)

Does Preoperative Radiation Therapy Performed for Metastatic Spine Cancer at the Cervical Spine Increase Perioperative Complications of Anterior Cervical Surgery?
CONCLUSIONS: RT performed before surgery for MSC does not increase the risk of wound complication, mechanical failure, or vital structure injury during ACSS. The surgical procedural approach was not complicated by previous RT history. Therefore, surgeons can safely choose the anterior approach when the number of levels or location of MSC favors anterior surgery, and performing a posterior surgery is unnecessary due to a concern that previous RT may increase complication rates of ACSS.PMID:38562630 | PMC:PMC10973614 | DOI:10.4055/cios23322 (Source: Clinics in Orthopedic Surgery)

Ameloblastic Carcinoma of the Maxilla With Uncommon Sinus Manifestations
We present a unique case of AC in a 70-year-old male, retired dry cleaner, with symptoms initially suggestive of chronic allergic rhinitis and recurrent acute sinusitis with asymmetric facial edema and paresthesia. Detailed evaluation revealed a prominent mass in the right maxillary sinus with extensive cortical destruction. Pathological assessment post-right maxillectomy identified a high-grade AC with malignant spindle cell transformation. The patient underwent subsequent interventions, including neck dissection and radiation therapy. Twelve months post-presentation, the patient was recovering appropriately without evide...

A retrospective study of chemotherapeutic effect without wide-margin surgery or radiation therapy in dogs with oral malignant melanoma
CONCLUSION AND CLINICAL RELEVANCE: As chemotherapy provided a median survival of 6 mo, it could be considered when adequate local control is infeasible. Earlier clinical stages or achievement of at least stable disease during chemotherapy may indicate better survival in dogs.PMID:38562982 | PMC:PMC10945454 (Source: The Canadian Veterinary Journal)
