Personality changes related to presence and treatment of substance use (disorders): a systematic review
Psychol Med. 2024 Apr 22:1-25. doi: 10.1017/S003329172400093X. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTHeavy substance use (SU) and substance use disorders (SUD) have complex etiologies and often severe consequences. Certain personality traits have been associated with an increased risk for SU(D), but far less is known about personality changes related to SU(D). This review aims to synthesize the existing literature on this research question. A systematic literature search was conducted from November 2022 to February 2023 in PubMed, EbscoHost, and Web of Science. Peer-reviewed original papers on SU(D)-related personality changes wer...

GSE131040 Maternal antioxidant treatment prevents behavioural and neurological changes in offspring exposed to prenatal social stress [RNA-seq]
Contributors : Hannah Scott ; Thomas J Phillips ; Ying Sze ; Alessio Alfieri ; Mark F Rogers ; Charles P Case ; Paula J BruntonSeries Type : Expression profiling by high throughput sequencingOrganism : Rattus norvegicusMaternal exposure to social stress during pregnancy is associated with an increased risk of psychiatric disorders in the offspring in later life. How the effects of maternal social stress are transmitted to the developing foetus is unclear. Using a rat model of maternal social stress during pregnancy, we explored the mechanisms by which maternal stress is conveyed to the foetus and the potential for targe...

Atractylodin ameliorates lipopolysaccharide-induced depressive-like behaviors in mice through reducing neuroinflammation and neuronal damage
In this study, the lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced mouse model was used to explore the antidepressant effects and molecular mechanisms of atractylodin. The results showed that atractylodin increased sugar preference, also reduced immobility time in FST and TST. (Source: Journal of Neuroimmunology)
