Frequency and the effects of spondyloarthritis-spectrum disorders on the clinical course and management of Takayasu arteritis: an observational retrospective study
ConclusionOur study confirmed that diseases in the SpA spectrum are not rare in TAK. Vascular symptoms appeared earlier in such patients, and more aggressive therapy with biological agents was required in the TAK-SpA group, suggesting an association between TAK and SpA spectrum.Key Points• The pathogenesis of Takayasu arteritis is mediated by an MHC class I alelle (HLA-B*52), similar to spondyloarthritis-disorders.• Extravascular findings of Takayasu arteritis are in the spectrum of spondyloarthritis disease.• This frequent coexistence between Takayasu arteritis and spondyloarthritic disorders suggests a relationship...

Double-negative T cells ameliorate psoriasis by selectively inhibiting IL-17A-producing γδlow T cells
Psoriasis is a chronic immune-mediated skin condition. Although biologic treatments are effective in controlling psoriasis, some patients do not respond or lose response to these therapies. Thus, new strategie... (Source: Journal of Translational Medicine)

Skin disorders in women with poor obstetric history: < em > MTHFR < /em > polymorphisms and importance of preconceptional counseling
CONCLUSIONS: The increased prevalence of psoriasis and acrochordons among women with MTHFR deficiency underscores the complex relationship between genetic factors and dermatological health. Our findings emphasized the critical role of MTHFR polymorphisms not only in poor obstetric history but also as significant contributors to skin disorders. This dual association highlights the importance of comprehensive preconception counseling, especially customized for women affected by skin disorders.PMID:38557333 | DOI:10.1080/03007995.2024.2337668 (Source: Current Medical Research and Opinion)

133. Vulvar Psoriasis in a Young Renal Transplant Recipient
Vulvar psoriasis is more common in the pediatric population than in adults. Isolated genital psoriasis occurs in 2-5% of all patients. Psoriasis has been noted as a skin manifestation in renal transplant recipients. It is important to consider psoriasis in the differential diagnosis in children with renal transplant and signs of vulvitis. (Source: Journal of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology)

214 Rowell Syndrome as a Paraneoplastic Manifestation of Metastatic Mesothelioma
A 60-year-old male presented in 2021 with pulmonary metastatic epitheloid mesothelioma. Notable history included psoriasis and T4aN2bM0 sarcomatoid squamous-cell-carcinoma of the oral-cavity treated with palliative radiotherapy. Due to an extraordinary response to radiotherapy, Head and Neck Multidisciplinary-Team-Meeting re-review felt a lymphomatoid process more likely. For mesothelioma, he completed 4 cycles of palliative pemetrexed/ carboplatin chemotherapy with partial-response but then stopped due to bone-marrow toxicity. (Source: Lung Cancer)

Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTCurrently, ulcerative sexually transmitted infections, including syphilis, herpes simplex virus (HSV), lymphogranuloma venereum (LGV), chancroid, donovanosis and, more recently, monkeypox (MPOX), represent a growing challenge for health care professionals. The incidence of syphilis and LGV has increased in recent years in Spain. Additionally, HSV, syphilis and chancroid can also increase the risk of HIV acquisition and transmission. The population groups most vulnerable to these infections are young people,...

52-week mid-term efficacy of tildrakizumab in moderate-to-severe psoriasis: a real-life multicenter experience
Actas Dermosifiliogr. 2024 Mar 29:S0001-7310(24)00276-X. doi: 10.1016/j.ad.2023.08.019. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTTildrakizumab is an IL-23-inhibitor that has been approved to treat plaque psoriasis. However, few reports have become available on its efficacy profile in the real-world. Our objective was to study the mid-term efficacy of tildrakizumab in patients with moderate-to-severe psoriasis in the Spanish routine clinical practice setting. This was a retrospective multicenter study that included a total of 91 psoriatic patients on tildrakizumab. The mean Psoriasis Area and Severity Index (PASI) was 9.09 (SD, 5.30)....
