Improve Your Mood With Turmeric Root (Curcumin)
"Dr. Sears," C.R. asked me, "I know curcumin is good for treating a lot of things, but can it improve someone's mood?" This morning, one of the women on my staff, C.R., came into my office to talk to me about her 15-year-old son. He'd been irritable and moody and sleeping a lot lately. Most mornings, he'd miss the bus to school and then stress about being late. But today, he was up on time with his backpack packed and a smile on his face. C.R. even heard him whistling in the shower! And he was at the bus stop 10 minutes early. C. R. started taking curcumin supplements a few weeks ago. She had no...

Mouse study identifies new method for treating depression
(University of California - San Diego) Standard antidepressant medications don't work for everyone, and even when they do they are slow to kick in. In an effort to find better depression treatments, researchers at University of California San Diego School of Medicine discovered that inhibiting an enzyme called Glyoxalase 1 (GLO1) relieves signs of depression in mice. Moreover, inhibiting GLO1 worked much faster than the conventional antidepressant Prozac. (Source: EurekAlert! - Biology)

When our world turns 'upside-down,' serotonin helps us deal with it
(Champalimaud Centre for the Unknown) It has been called the 'happiness molecule' due to its antidepressant effects in drugs such as Prozac. Despite Rising Rates Of Depression, It's Doubtful We'll See New Drugs
LONDON (Reuters) - It is likely to be at least 10 years before any new generation of antidepressants comes to market, despite evidence that depression and anxiety rates are increasing across the world, specialists said on Wednesday. The depression drug pipeline has run dry partly due to a “failure of science” they said, but also due to big pharma pulling investment out of research and development (R&D) in the neuroscience field because the profit potential is uncertain. “I’d be very surprised if we were to see any new drugs for depression in the next decade. No new antidepressants likely in next decade, say scientists

Looks Like Carrie Fisher's Ashes Are Resting In A Giant Prozac Pill
Some of Carrie Fisher’s ashes were scattered near her mother, Debbie Reynolds, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Los Angeles, California, on Friday morning. But Fisher, who had her own memorial on Thursday, had the last laugh, as it definitely, definitely looks like her ashes were put inside a giant Prozac pill, which is objectively fantastic. Just fantastic. I can't be positive, but I think Carrie Fisher had an urn made that looks like a prozac pill which is god damn genius of her.— Cher (@thecherness) January 6, 2017 @thecherness oh she totally did. pic.twitter.com/VPBFCJuqUV— Cher (@...
