Coadministration of doxorubicin with vitamin D3, Lactobacillus acidophilus, and Lactobacillus casei in the 4T1 mouse model of breast cancer: anticancer and enteroprotective effects
AbstractThe use of doxorubicin (Dox) in the treatment of breast cancer negatively affects the intestines and other tissues. Many studies have proven that probiotics and vitamin D3 have antitumor and intestinal tissue-protecting properties. To achieve effectiveness and minimize side effects, the current study aims to administer Dox together with probiotics (Lactobacillus acidophilus andLactobacillus casei) and vitamin D3. Forty-two female BALB/c inbred mice were divided into six groups: Group 1 (Control), Group 2 (Dox), Group 3 (Dox and probiotics), Group 4 (Dox and vitamin D3), Group 5 (Dox, probiotics, and vitamin D3), an...

The effect of novel paraprobiotic cocktail on dextran sodium sulfate induced acute colitis control focusing on autophagy signaling pathway
ConclusionAlthough there are some limitations in our investigation, such as the dosage and duration of treatments, our native paraprobiotic blend effectively prevented the advancement of colitis. This suggests that it plays a vital role in regulating inflammation and preventing colitis by promoting the autophagy mechanism in cases where the consumption of probiotics may have negative consequences. Commensal skin bacteria exacerbate inflammation and delay skin barrier repair
The skin microbiome can both trigger beneficial immune stimulation and pose a potential infection threat. Previous studies have shown that colonization of mouse skin with the model human skin commensal Staphylococcus epidermidis is protective against subsequent excisional wound or pathogen challenge. However, less is known about concurrent skin damage and exposure to commensal microbes, despite growing interest in interventional probiotic therapy. Here, we address this open question by applying commensal skin bacteria at a high dose to abraded skin. (Source: Journal of Investigative Dermatology)

< em > Lactobacillus < /em > as probiotics: opportunities and challenges for potential benefits in female reproductive health
Am J Transl Res. 2024 Mar 15;16(3):720-729. doi: 10.62347/IGWR5474. eCollection 2024.ABSTRACTThe growing interest of the scientific community in the study of probiotics has gathered valuable data about its beneficial effects for multiple clinical conditions. This data also provides evidence for the functions and properties of probiotics and how they contribute to health benefits by influencing normal microbiota. Lactobacillus is an important genus which has long been utilized in the food industry and is also found as normal oral, intestinal and vaginal microbiota. Lactobacillus has shown multiple health benefits but its re...
