Latent Profiles of Disordered Eating Among Veterans: Associations With Mental Health Concerns
Varying patterns in eating disorder (ED) classification are evident and may impact ED treatment and prevention. However, investigations of patterns of heterogeneity in ED presentations have been limited to civilian samples, despite the high prevalence of EDs in military personnel and veterans. The present study aimed to explore ED-related symptom patterns, including emotional overeating, in women veterans. (Source: Womens Health Issues)

Greenhouse gas emissions associated with suboptimal asthma care in the UK: the SABINA healthCARe-Based envirONmental cost of treatment (CARBON) study
Conclusions These findings suggest that addressing the high burden of poorly controlled asthma, including curbing high SABA use and its associated risk of exacerbations, may significantly alleviate asthma care-related carbon emissions. (Source: Thorax)

Integrating Specialist and Primary Care in Chronic Disease Management
Alongside efforts to develop new strategies for the early diagnosis and delayed progression of chronic kidney disease (CKD), it remains critical to implement existing interventions effectively. Since the patients who might benefit are asymptomatic and undiagnosed, the tasks of early diagnosis and intervention naturally belong to the primary care practitioners (PCPs) who are in regular contact with these as-yet undiagnosed patients. Despite PCPs ’ familiarity with preventive measures, such as smoking cessation, blood pressure control, and diabetes control, both time constraints and the need to stay up to date with current...

(Data-) Cooperatives in health and social care: a scoping review
ConclusionsInformation provided on (data) cooperatives differed greatly in detail. Their common goal is to tackle and overcome existing barriers in their field such as working conditions or unequal health care. We identified five challenges: (1) salary structures; (2) cooperating with other providers and surrounding institutions; (3) building an identity and recruiting potential members; (4) motivation of members to participate actively; and (5) distinction from other types. Benefits are: (1) improvement of conditions; (2) being stronger together; (3) support of research; and (4) data governance. When successful and compet...

Evaluating the impact of a teaching course for GP speciality trainees
CONCLUSIONS: Teaching skill courses alone are insufficient to address the ongoing challenges of enhancing the teaching role of GPSTs. Further work is now needed to explore multi-level interventions to promote the role of GPSTs as near-peer teachers to harness the mutual benefits to all involved.PMID:38615344 | DOI:10.1080/14739879.2024.2336211 (Source: Education for Primary Care)

'Bitesize' primary care focused education programme for GP trainees in their hospital component: an evaluation of a national teaching pilot
Educ Prim Care. 2024 Apr 14:1-5. doi: 10.1080/14739879.2024.2336218. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThere is need for a greater connection between General Practice and GP trainees in their hospital component of training. Currently, in Scotland, there are no national education programmes specifically designed for GP trainees during their hospital component of training. Our aim was to develop and evaluate the feasibility of a national online 'bitesize' education programme delivered live for GP trainees in their hospital component of training. The study also aims to assess the barriers to attending these teaching sessions and ...

Design of a nursing assessment instrument during pregnancy monitoring in Primary Health care and the validation of its content
CONCLUSION: After this process, a new assessment tool is presented to be applied by primary care midwives in the pregnancy monitoring. The questionnaire has been piloted with 50 pregnant women, determining the most prevalent nursing diagnoses, establishing the workload for the midwife of her implementation of individualized care plans to improve some health indicators of pregnant women.PMID:38615551 | DOI:10.1016/j.aprim.2024.102932 (Source: Atencion Primaria)
