Management and outcome of fetal abdominal cysts in first trimester: systematic review of the literature
CONCLUSIONS: The finding of an abdominal cyst during the first trimester of pregnancy is in most cases an isolated event with a moderate to good prognosis but it could also be an early sign of other associated abnormalities, including arthrogryposis. Increased ultrasound surveillance and additional genetic testing to rule out possible associated anomalies are pivotal to assess the risk of adverse pregnancy outcomes and to provide appropriate counselling to the patient. Association of fetal growth restriction and stillbirth in twin compared with singleton pregnancies
CONCLUSIONS: Our study demonstrates a significant association between SGA, particularly for FGR, with increased odds of stillbirths in singleton pregnancies across all gestational ages. For twin pregnancies, when twin-specific charts were used, SGA and in particular FGR were associated with a significantly increased risk of stillbirth, across all gestational ages at delivery. Hsa_circ_0006260 Mediates Trophoblast Function by Fibronectin Type III Domains Containing Protein 5 via Interacting with miR-770-5p
Biochem Genet. 2024 Apr 20. doi: 10.1007/s10528-024-10789-3. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTA series of studies have confirmed the relationship between circular RNAs (circRNAs) and metabolic diseases. Hsa_circ_0006260 has been reported to be lowly expressed in the placenta of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) patients, but the underlying mechanism and its biological functions remain obscure. Placental tissues were collected from 37 pregnant women with normal glucose tolerance (NGT) and 37 pregnant women with GDM. Expression changes of hsa_circ_0006260 in placentas and high glucose (HG)-stimulated HTR-8/SVneo cells were de...

Management of Abnormal Uterine Bleeding on Anticoagulation: The Patient-Clinician Perspective
J Thromb Haemost. 2024 Apr 18:S1538-7836(24)00216-2. doi: 10.1016/j.jtha.2024.04.002. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTBleeding is a well-recognized side effect of anticoagulant therapy, which is used to treat venous thromboembolism (VTE) in individuals of all ages, including those of female sex, who commonly experience VTE as a complication of hormonal therapies and/or pregnancy. Heavy menstrual bleeding (HMB) is also extremely common in reproductive aged individuals of female sex. Despite these overlapping situations, relatively little attention has been paid to the impact of anticoagulant-associated HMB on treatment strate...

Health Management of Working Pregnant Nurses: A grounded theory study
AbstractAimTo explore the recognition of pregnant nurses on how they managed their health conditions to examine safe working strategies.DesignA qualitative study with a grounded theory approach.MethodsTwenty-one nurses engaged in work during their pregnancy were recruited and interviewed using a semi-structured questionnaire from January to June 2021. The data were analysed using a constant comparative method.ResultsThe core category ‘duelling roles’ and the four other categories emerged. Pregnant nurses understand the ‘weight of one’ of being a professional in the workplace. Therefore, despite their health concern...

Biomarker role of maternal soluble human leukocyte antigen G in pre ‐eclampsia: A meta‐analysis
ConclusionAlthough we found that first and third-trimester sHLA-G levels in pre-eclampsia are significantly lower, taking into consideration the inconsistent results from the sensitivity analysis, our findings advocate the demand for more studies with larger sample sizes to generate solid ground pooled evidence on the predictive role of sHLA-G in pre-eclampsia. Effect of time post warming to embryo transfer on human blastocyst metabolism and pregnancy outcome
ConclusionOverall, our results show that differences in the time of post warming culture have no significant impact on miscarriage or live birth rate for frozen embryo transfers. This information can be beneficial for clinical practices with either minimal staffing or a high number of patient cases. (Source: Journal of Assisted Reproduction and Genetics)
