Predictors of medications-free and long-term remission in anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody-associated vasculitis: Real-world evidence
CONCLUSIONS: Induction therapy leads to long-term and medications-free remission in 72% and 38% of patients with AAV, respectively.PMID:38567565 | PMC:PMC11008330 | DOI:10.36141/svdld.v41i1.14367 (Source: Sarcoidosis Vasculitis and Diffuse Lung Diseases)

Sarcoidosis as a cause of chronic back pain: a case report
In this report, we present a case involving a previously healthy 55-year-old woman who sought medical attention due to chronic back pain. She was subsequently diagnosed with spinal sarcoidosis, based on MRI, PET scan, and biopsy results. Furthermore, treatment with prednisolone monotherapy demonstrated substantial improvement in her symptoms.PMID:38567561 | PMC:PMC11008322 | DOI:10.36141/svdld.v41i1.14813 (Source: Sarcoidosis Vasculitis and Diffuse Lung Diseases)

Prednisolone Versus Colchicine for Acute Gout in Primary Care: statistical analysis plan for the pragmatic, multicenter, randomized, and double-blinded COPAGO non-inferiority trial
To date, colchicine and prednisolone are two effective therapies for the treatment of acute gout but have never been compared directly in a randomized clinical trial. In addition, in previous trials of treatin... (Source: Trials)

The effect of prednisolone and a short-term prednisolone discontinuation for the diagnostic accuracy of FDG-PET/CT in polymyalgia rheumatica-a prospective study of 101 patients
CONCLUSION: FDG-PET/CT has limited diagnostic accuracy for differentiating PMR from other inflammatory diseases. If FDG-PET/CT is intended for diagnostic purposes, prednisolone should be discontinued to enhance diagnostic accuracy.TRIAL REGISTRATION: ClinicalTrials.gov (NCT04519580). Successful treatment with tofacitinib for anti-melanoma differentiation-associated gene 5 antibody-positive juvenile dermatomyositis: case reports and review of the literature
We describe two female Japanese patients with anti-MDA5 Ab + JDM and rapidly progressive interstitial lung disease who achieved remission by adding tofacitinib to existing immunosuppressive drugs and present a literature review. While both patients received various immunosuppressive or anti-inflammatory treatments for induction therapy, remission could not be achieved. Subsequently, tofacitinib was administered to reduce the Krebs von den Lungen-6 level 5 months after diagnosis in one patient; the other patient received tofacitinib 4 months after diagnosis to reduce ferritin levels and skin manifestations. Subsequently, bo...

Bone quality in zebrafish vertebrae improves after alendronate administration in a glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis model
J Mech Behav Biomed Mater. 2024 Mar 24;154:106521. doi: 10.1016/j.jmbbm.2024.106521. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTGlucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis (GIOP) changes the microarchitecture of bones and often leads to the reduction of bone-mineral density (BMD) and increased fracture rates. Zebrafish has been used as an alternative model for GIOP, however, the interaction of GIOP, and its treatment, with zebrafish bone morphometrics and mechanical properties, remains a challenge. Thus, this study aimed to evaluate the effects of prednisolone and alendronate on the properties of zebrafish vertebrae. Adult 7-month-old zebrafis...
