'No need to wait to try again after miscarriage' advice
Conclusion This study shows that getting pregnant sooner after a miscarriage results in no more adverse outcomes compared to waiting for more than six months. In addition, there appear to be better outcomes in terms of a lower risk of further miscarriage and possibly preterm birth. It should be pointed out that for preterm birth the result only reached statistical significance when one of the relevant studies was excluded, which limits our confidence in this result. This study has strengths as it included a large number of women from many different countries. However, it also has limitations: The way data was collected...

It's Not Just Texas. Maternal Deaths Are High Across The U.S.
The pregnancy-related death rate in Texas nearly doubled between 2010 and 2012 ― the same time period that the state severely cut women’s health funding, most notably at Planned Parenthood, according to a new study. Similarly, the rate in Texas jumped from 18 deaths per 100,000 births in 2006 to 36 deaths per 100,000 births in 2014. But sadly, Texas is just an ...

Pregnancy supplements 'don ’t help, just take vit D and folic acid'
Conclusion This report aimed to assess the current UK guidance for vitamin supplementation in pregnancy and the evidence on which it is based. Overall the findings are in line with the current recommendations. However, this study cannot be assumed to be a comprehensive systematic review on the effectiveness and safety of vitamins during pregnancy.  There is lack of detail on any formal methods and we don't know if the researchers assessed all available evidence on the supplements or whether they have cherry picked ones that fit in with the recommendations.  The researchers suggest a further limitation that many of the...
