EMRs
I'm curious if anyone feels particularly strong about their EMR. I've looked at Modernizing Medicine, Compulink, Nextech, and NextGen for a small practice needing EMR/PM software for both the clinic and practice management (no optical shop). There are a lot of options, and each EMR has its strengths and weaknesses. Would anyone be willing to comment on what they like and don't like about their EMR? Thank you! PROBLEM COMPLEXITY (LOW)
-typically low since I keep visits to 1 stable chronic illness
DATA (3 points from category 1) (MODERATE)
-review of CBC and BMP (1pt)
-review of X-ray spine report everytime (1pt)
-review of MRI spine report everytime (1pt)
(I’m in a busy private group so MRI is usually always done)
-review of the same Xray/MRI counts everytime right? I do this out of good practice.

Question for all Endodontists out there
Currently working as a general, but now considering endo.
Is it true that you can do well seeing only around 6 patients/day with sick call/consults? Low overhead and easier practice management?
- pros/cons?
- are cases typically very difficult?
- fast paced?

Private practice management issues
I want to check with the SDN brain trust on issues I am seeing at a private practice where I am employed. First year out of fellowship employed in a large (10+) private practice. The group was private practice with their own infusion before but now it is mostly PSA with a large health system. Clinic attached to hospital. Overhead is very small. Why can't medical school be 5 years?
Id like to invite opinions on this. I am not trying to bash the medical school system, although some changes may be needed. I'm just curious, what I constantly hear from physicians is there are many more skills required beyond your curriculum in medical school which largely focuses on healthy anatomy/physiology -disease-treatment .
