Improving Turnaround Time of Noncontrast CT Head Studies in Patients with  Acute Stroke
In the era of exclusively digital imaging, workflow optimization is a key quality initiative in improving patient care [1]. Multiple obstacles remain in the radiologic workflow, many well documented in the literature, including service interruptions and system inefficiencies [2]. This situation has been compounded further in recent years by an increase in study volumes and a global decrease in the number of radiologists [3,4]. Triaging studies will continue to play an ever-larger role in developing a safe and effective workflow. (Source: Journal of the American College of Radiology : JACR)

ChatGPT and AI: How Does Health Care Handle 1.0?
Health care, including hospital medicine, isn’t exactly known as the professional land of early adopters—and for good reason. The regulations that govern the care of hospitalized patients can’t allow just every new application, website, or technology to get its hands on patient information. And hospitalists can’t just rely on Google searches to come up with the right approach to a particularly difficult diagnosis. But can it help? Can hospital medicine embrace the latest technology in real time? Well, ChatGPT is a test case. The large-language model-based chatbot has taken the world by storm over the past year and ...

Applying Implementation Science Principles to Design the ACR Peer Learning Pathway: A Case Study
In 2000, the Institute of Medicine reported that errors remained a major threat to patients in US health systems and sought to “develop and deploy approaches to identify, learn from, and reduce diagnostic errors and near misses in clinical practice” [1]. Subsequently, formal quality programs began to form in all disciplines of health care, including the ACR’s score-based peer review (PR) system, RADPEER®. RADPEER req uires judging interpretations of prior studies by colleagues and scoring the degree of clinical significance for any diagnostic discrepancies. Secrets of Satisfied EHR Users
A report released earlier this year by KLAS Research identified more than 3,000 “highly satisfied” users of their hospital’s electronic health record (EHR), which has also been shown to be a contributor to job stress, dissatisfaction, and burnout for some clinicians.1,2 The report that teased out these highly satisfied clinicians, using survey data from December 2021 to December 2022 among 400,000 end users of the EHR in different countries, also highlighted several key traits distinguishing satisfied EHR users from those who are not. Ms. Beyer “We measured physicians, advanced practice clinicians, nurses, and al...

Improving Seizure Frequency Documentation and Classification
Discussion We demonstrated that by implementing an easy-to-use standardized EHR documentation tool, our documentation of critical metrics, as defined by the ELHS, improved dramatically. This shows that simple and practical interventions can substantially improve clinically meaningful documentation. (Source: Neurology Clinical Practice)

Successful Change Management Strategies for Improving Diabetes Care Delivery Among High-Performing Practices
CONCLUSIONS: Top-performing primary care practices identify a similar group of strategies as important for managing change during quality improvement activities. Practices involved in diabetes improvement activities, and perhaps other chronic conditions, should consider adopting these change management strategies.PMID:37748904 | PMC:PMC10519769 | DOI:10.1370/afm.3017 (Source: Annals of Family Medicine)
