Valneva vaccine approved for use in the UK, UK Covid Vaccine Research Hub
The vaccine manufactured by French biotech company Valneva has been approved by regulators for use in the UK. The vaccine is the sixth to be approved by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) for use in the UK, after the Novavax vaccine was approved on 3 February. The MHRA is the first regulator in the world to approve the Valneva vaccine. The vaccine is based on more traditional technology than those currently being used in the UK, and is similar to the existing shots for polio and flu.
