2026 Personal Statement Readers!
I figured I would copy and paste this from last year because this really helped me last year when perfecting my essays as a second time applicant! Since VMCAS opened back in January for this current cycle, that means there's much more time available for applicants to have their essays read/reviewed/edited than in previous years. Much more time to polish things up and make them as perfect as possible. To applicants: You can send a PM regarding your essays to any of the... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Nail Polish in dental school?
This may seem like an odd question but I am curious if you are allowed to wear nail polish in dental school. I know you must keep your nails short and trimmed, but can you still polish them? Thanks! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Is sketchy, usmle, pathoma, etc. cheaper abroad. Asking foreign med students in countries like India, Phillipines, Poland, etc.
I signed up for tidal music using a turkish VPN and only pay $1.33 a month instead of $10. I use netflix based on a Brazilian VPN and only pay $4.5 instead of $10. I was wondering if those tricks can translate to med school resources. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

CRNA and ASA IV or V patients?
Hi I am a medical student from Poland. I want to be an anesthesiologist, so I started reading about the work of anesthesiologists in different countries. I was surprised to see on IG that CRNAs in the USA are practicing independently. In Europe, there always must be one anaesthesiologist and nurse in the operating room. MD gives the orders and he decides about treatment. I was on an internship in Norway where ASA 1 or 2 patients (even a student would be able to do it) are anesthetized by a... Can interviewers ask details about religion, sexual orientation, ethnicity?
Hello. In the professional world employers are not permitted to ask potential candidates about topics that underlie protected characteristics (unless they are ready for lawsuit). So I wonder does it work the same way for medical school interviews? Let’s say a Muslim woman is interviewed and an interviewer asks her “Are you Sunni or Shiite?” Or “You said you are queer, so could you tell me more about it?” Or “you are from Poland, are both of your parents ethnic Polands?” Or “I see you are... Minor hem/onc fellowships
Hello, I am a second year IM resident at a community hospital with strong interest in hem onc. I am applying next yr to fellowship but I wanted also to be mindful of other routes that might help me to secure hem onc if i am unable to match. I am aware that for ex GI there are small 1 yr fellowships at big places that polish your CV for the actual GI fellowship like advanced hepatology, motility, etc. I am not ware of any for hem onc. May you please help shed some light if any? So i may... Minor hem/onc fellowships (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Difference between Applying May 30th and June 9th?
Everything in my app is ready except my PS, my AMCAS is all filled. I just have to polish my PS and maybe polish one or two activity descriptions, but I don’t want to rush my app if I can get an even better PS in my app. Is there really a difference between submitting my app on May 30th vs June 8th or 9th? Will it still be in the “first batch”? (Source: Student Doctor Network)
