Outcomes of Nonalcoholic Steatohepatitis After Liver Transplantation: An Updated Meta-Analysis and Systematic Review
Nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) is the fastest growing indication of liver transplantation (LT) and is projected to be the leading cause of LT in the near future. The systemic pathogenesis of NASH increases risks of adverse clinical outcomes in patients with NASH receiving LT. Thus, this study aimed to conduct a time-dependent survival analysis between LT recipients with and without NASH using hazard ratios. (Source: Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology)

Gluten Intake and Risk of Digestive System Cancers in 3 Large Prospective Cohort Studies
In patients with celiac disease, gluten triggers an immune reaction that damages small intestinal villi and may increase long-term risk of gastrointestinal cancer. However, the health impacts of gluten in the general population are understudied. We aimed to examine the association between gluten intake and risk of digestive system cancers among individuals without celiac disease. (Source: Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology)

Issue Highlights
Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) - a disorder of gut-brain interaction - is a common and burdensome condition.1,2 Resilience is the ability to adapt positively to stress and adversity and can serve as a potential therapeutic target in IBS. Parker and colleagues compared resilience between persons with IBS, the general population, and those with other chronic gastrointestinal (GI) conditions.3 Over 1900 participants completed an online survey containing questionnaires measuring demographics, diagnosis of IBS and other GI conditions, symptom severity, psychological symptoms, resilience, and early adverse life events.
