Kale Joins ‘ Dirty Dozen ’ List Of Fruits And Vegetables Most Likely To Contain Pesticides
(CBS Local) — Kale, that popular green of the health conscious consumer, has joined the list of 12 fruits and vegetables with the most pesticide residues, according to the Environmental Working Group. For the third straight year, strawberries top the EWG’s “Dirty Dozen” list. Spinach and kale finished in second and third place, respectively. Other “dirty” foods include nectarines, apples and grapes. Analysis found 92 percent of conventionally grown kale samples had residue from at least two or more pesticides.
