Voltage ‐ and Metal‐assisted Chemical Etching of Micro and Nano Structures in Silicon: A Comprehensive Review
Here, the key mechanisms and diverse applications of controlled voltage-assisted chemical etching (ECE) and metal-assisted chemical etching (MaCE) of silicon, spanning both micro and nanoscale dimensions, are reviewed. This review offers a distinctive understanding of ECE and MaCE technologies, highlighting the most recent achievements, and discussing their future perspectives in silicon micro and nano machining. AbstractSculpting silicon at the micro and nano scales has been game-changing to mold bulk silicon properties and expand, in turn, applications of silicon beyond electronics, namely, in photonics, sensing, medicin...

A deep learning-based method for the prediction of temporal lobe injury in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma
Radiotherapy (RT) is the primary treatment modality for nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) and demonstrates a satisfactory 5-year overall survival [1]. However, the emergence of radiation-induced complications or late RT toxicities cannot be overlooked [2]. Temporal lobe injury (TLI) induced by radiotherapy is a severe late sequela that typically manifests 6 –47 months post-treatment, leading to symptoms such as dizziness, memory loss, personality changes, cognitive impairment, temporal lobe epilepsy, or necrosis. Uncertainties in ocular proton planning and their impact on required margins
Ocular proton therapy (OPT) for uveal melanoma dates back to 1975 at the Harvard Cylcotron Laboratory and up to date more than 45,000 patients have been treated worldwide with exceptional success rates [1]. Although technical improvements occurred mainly with respect to treatment planning and imaging, the general concept has stayed more or less the same: a geometric eye model is constructed and the positioning of the target relative to the beam isocenter is achieved by means of orthogonal X-rays, which show the radio-opaque tantalum markers sutured to the outer eyeball. Sensors, Vol. 24, Pages 2639: Modelling Inductive Sensors for Arc Fault Detection in Aviation
drado Modern aircraft are being equipped with high-voltage and direct current (HVDC) architectures to address the increase in electrical power. Unfortunately, the rise of voltage in low pressure environments brings about a problem with unexpected ionisation phenomena such as arcing. Series arcs in HVDC cannot be detected with conventional means, and finding methods to avoid the potentially catastrophic hazards of these events becomes critical to assure further development of more electric and all electric aviation. Inductive sensors are one of the most promising detectors in terms of sensitivity, cost, weight and adapt...
