Clinical outcome of percutaneous angioplasty and covered stent placement for treatment of left brachiocephalic vein obstruction in hemodialysis patients
CONCLUSION: The primary patency rates were similar in the angioplasty and the stenting groups. Stenting has a significantly higher secondary patency rate than angioplasty alone for treating LBV obstruction and is required more commonly in patients without prior ipsilateral catheterization.PMID:38362768 | DOI:10.1177/11297298241229108 (Source: The Journal of Vascular Access)

Endovascular tools for vascular access stenosis: Flow-chart proposal
J Vasc Access. 2024 Feb 16:11297298241229166. doi: 10.1177/11297298241229166. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTStenosis represents the most relevant arteriovenous fistula (AVF) pathology and can affects the entire conduit forming the fistula, from afferent artery to central venous vessels. Correction of vascular access stenosis significantly affects the survival and quality of life for end stage renal disease patients (ESRD) dependent on hemodialysis. Guidelines consider the procedure of percutaneous transluminal angioplasty (PTA) relevant for the primary treatment of these lesions with excellent results in restoring AVF imme...

Invasiveness of previous treatment for peripheral arterial disease and risk of adverse cardiac events after coronary stenting
This study assessed the impact of the invasiveness of previous PADs treatment (invasive or non-invasive) on event risks after PCI with contemporary drug-eluting stents. This post-hoc analysis pooled 3-year patient-level data of PCI all-comer patients living in the eastern Netherlands, previously treated for PADs. PADs included symptomatic atherosclerotic lesion in the lower or upper extremities; carotid or vertebral arteries; mesenteric arteries or aorta. Invasive PADs treatment comprised endarterectomy, bypass surgery, percutaneous transluminal angioplasty, stenting or amputation; non-invasive treatment consisted of medic...

Is the May-Thurner Syndrome a Major Risk Factor for Deep Vein Thrombosis in Total Hip Arthroplasty?
CONCLUSIONS: If the diagnosis of MTS is delayed, the morbidity and mortality rates are significantly increased. Orthopedic surgeons should be aware of MTS as a risk factor for DVT after THA. Moreover, preoperative evaluation with duplex sonography or CT angiography to confirm MTS should be considered. In this regard, this study is considered to have sufficient clinical value for early diagnosis and appropriate treatment of MTS after THA.PMID:38304205 | PMC:PMC10825252 | DOI:10.4055/cios23128 (Source: Clinics in Orthopedic Surgery)
