Usefulness of non-slip element percutaneous transluminal angioplasty scoring balloons in treating severe calcified lesions of the carotid artery for carotid artery stenting: A case report
CONCLUSION: This is the first report to describe the use of this scoring balloon in de novo carotid artery disease. NSE PTA scoring balloon catheters can be a useful option for refractory, highly calcified stenosis.PMID:38628518 | PMC:PMC11021079 | DOI:10.25259/SNI_923_2023 (Source: Surgical Neurology International)

Zero upper arm hemodialysis fistulas: utopian or realistic goal?
CONCLUSIONS: The findings confirm the low prevalence of UAF found in our prior survey, demonstrating that UAFs can be reduced to 5% or less, as seen in Japanese experience.PMID:38581266 | DOI:10.1177/11297298241245062 (Source: The Journal of Vascular Access)

Risk factors for repeated percutaneous transluminal angioplasty of hemodialysis vascular access after initial intervention
CONCLUSIONS: Among the patients undergoing hemodialysis, the use of antiplatelet agents was associated with a lower risk of re-PTA. Therefore, the use of antiplatelet drugs may reduce the rates of re-PTA and help in maintaining the patency of vascular access.PMID:38545905 | DOI:10.1177/17085381241241362 (Source: Vascular)

Comparison of Clinical Efficacy and Safety of Drug-Coated Balloons versus Percutaneous Transluminal Angioplasty in Arteriovenous Fistulas: A Review of Systematic Reviews and Updated Meta-Analysis
A review of systematic reviews (SRs) and an update of the current meta-analysis were conducted to evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of drug-coated balloons (DCBs) compared with percutaneous transluminal angioplasty (PTA) for arteriovenous fistula (AVF) stenosis. The MicroStent HEAL Registry: Interim 6-Month Outcomes
One third of peripheral arterial disease (PAD) patients will advance to critical limb ischemia (CLI)/ chronic limb-threatening ischemia (CLTI), and end-stage disease progression, characterized by rest pain, tissue loss, gangrene, and amputation. Despite ameliorative progress, percutaneous transluminal angioplasty clinical outcomes remain suboptimal. There is still a lack of solutions to improve patency. The HEAL registry collects outcomes data for the treatment of predominantly CLI/CLTI patients implanted with the MicroStent, designed specifically for below-the-knee (BTK) intervention. A Comparison of Different Approaches in BTK Revascularization
Peripheral arterial disease and critical limb ischemia (CLI) represent a global burden. In diabetic- and chronic renal failure patients, below-the-knee (BTK) localization is reported in association with widespread calcification, with stenosis or occlusion. The BTK district is generally treated using percutaneous transluminal angioplasty (PTA). Today ’s commercially available devices influence the revascularization success rate and amputation risk after distal flow restoration. (Source: Journal of Vascular Surgery)

Transplant Renal Artery Stenosis: A Case Report and Literature Review
Urol J. 2024 Mar 17. doi: 10.22037/uj.v20i.7962. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTTransplant renal artery stenosis is the most common vascular complication that turns out following kidney transplantation and can lead to graft dysfunction and even its loss. The present report, describes A patient with end-stage renal disease who underwent living related renal transplantation. He had oliguria and creatinine rise in the post-operative course but all doppler ultrasonography (DUS) during the 2 months post-operation for the renal graft showed a normal mean resistive index in the graft renal artery. Hemodialysis treatment started an...
