Did I mess this percocet script up?
Hi everyone, I was floating at a very hot store which was also having software issues. I couldn’t use any sigs so I had to type the words out for each rx. Got a script for percocet 1t po q6h prn pain. Written rx specified max of 4. I can’t recall if I wrote the directions with *max 4 tablets* or *max 4 tablets PER DAY* I’m paranoid now that if I left it as max 4 tablets, instead of PER DAY, what if they assume they can take 4 tablets per dose? they had no history on pmp and it... Promethazine/codeine on top of Percocet and diazepam?
Just wondering. Is there ever a good reason to give promethazine with codeine for cough to someone who is already on Percocet and diazepam? The prescriber insisted that we fill the promethazine/codeine. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

cervical esi and VWF disease
hi all, I have a patient with a history of an anterior cervical fusion present with a 2 month history of cervical radic that hasn't responded to NSAID, PT, oral steroids, or even percocet. She wants to have an epidural done but has this history of VWF disease. I don't have any records about and she isn't entirely clear about this diagnosis. She just told me "they told me I bled a lot after a prior surgery and diagnosed me with VWF disease". She did tell me she received DDAVP prior to her... cervical esi and VWF disease (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Suicidal pt due to chronic pain
Are there any good treatments for a lady on the inpatient unit that was admitted because of suicidal ideation due to chronic pain. She’s had many surgeries in the past and as a result has chronic pain all day only relieved by tons of opioids which were stopped by her pain medicine doc. She’s still on 7.5 mg Percocet 4x a day but that’s not enough she says. If her pain was manageable she would be able to move around the house and do stuff and be less depressed and suicidal but I can’t really... What's your plan for an active shooter in your ED?
Okay, you're sitting at the desk typing away into the EMR, some dude comes in from triage and starts shooting. What do you do? Does your plan change if you discharged the guy a half hour ago after telling him 5 times that you're not giving him Percocet? Does your plan change if your hospital is a "gun-free zone" like mine? What is your duty to your patients? To your family? Do you try to talk? Do you run and hide? Do you attack? Do you have a "panic button"? Does it work? Are your security... What are your thoughts on opioid prescriptions for kids/adolsecents?
I am just wondering what are your thoughts and experience with seeing these type of prescriptions? As long as the dose matches up with the dosing regiment on say lexicomp, do you question the dose any further? Any particular drugs you deny, besides say codeine/tramadol formulations? One last question to add, I have looked this up and it seems to be the norm, but i am just wondering to be sure. Have you all seen Percocet/Norco while breast feeding, especially after say c-section or after... What are your thoughts on opioid prescriptions for kids/adolsecents? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

CIII Filling (Specifically Suboxone)
A patient on Suboxone, prescribed by a Pain Management Specialist with a Buprenorphine Waiver, who doesnt fall into the normal box and has a complex medical history, meaning quitting all other substances with dependency potential is not an option, has landed in a difficult situation. The MD was prescribing Suboxone and Percocet (Yes I know, that is counterintuitive, but that's not the focus of this question). Other MDs have been prescribing Phenobarbital, Fiorocet, Lunesta, Diastat, all MDs... CIII Filling (Specifically Suboxone) (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Upcoming Knee Surgery.
Im new to the forum so if I'm posting this in the wrong section I apologize. I am 26 years old and I am going in for my second knee surgery due to multiple patella dislocations. My first surgery was similar to a lateral release. Now my surgeon is going to try something more extensive. My question is after my first surgery I was given hydrocodone 10mg/325, which didn't do a whole lot. Now right now before my surgery my surgeon prescribed me percocet 5/325, which doesn't do anything, I have to... Upcoming Knee Surgery. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Injured before residency, freaked out and depressed
Think I re-injured an old HIVD problem helping a friend move last week. Currently can't stand for more than a few seconds without experiencing significant pain in the left leg and have to find a place to lie down. Acetaminophen + NSAIDs doesn't help w/ the pain at all and leftover Oxycodone only alleviate the pain partially (pain still significant to the point where I can't stand for long). I'm an IMG with no health insurance (dumb mistake @@). With Orientation less than 2 weeks away, I am... Injured before residency, freaked out and depressed (Source: Student Doctor Network)
