Single-cell sequencing reveals distinct immune cell features in cutaneous lesions of pemphigus vulgaris and bullous pemphigoid
Clin Immunol. 2024 Apr 15:110219. doi: 10.1016/j.clim.2024.110219. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTBullous pemphigoid (BP) and pemphigus vulgaris (PV) are two common subtypes of autoimmune bullous disease (AIBD). The key role of circulating autoreactive immune cells contributing to skin damage of AIBD has been widely recognized. Nevertheless, the immune characteristics in cutaneous lesions remain unclear. Here, we performed single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) and single-cell VDJ sequencing (scRNA-seq) to generate transcriptional profiles for cells and T/B cell clonetype in skin lesions of BP and PV. We found that the prop...

Comprehensive safety profile of dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitors: a post-marketing study based on FAERS database using signal detection algorithms
CONCLUSION: Several significant disproportionality signals were observed with DPP-4 inhibitors. However, clinicians have to consider the comorbidities and concomitant drugs while prescribing these drugs.PMID:38626310 | DOI:10.1080/14740338.2024.2343015 (Source: Expert Opinion on Drug Safety)

GSE263026 Intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIg) ameliorates disease in a murine model of anti-laminin 332 mucous membrane pemphigoid
Contributors : Christian D Sadik ; Hauke Busch ; Axel K ünstnerSeries Type : Expression profiling by high throughput sequencingOrganism : Mus musculusIntravenous immunoglobulin (IVIg) is used to treat mucous membrane pemphigoid (MMP), although its therapeutic effectivity is not sufficiently supported by randomized controlled clinical trials and its mode of action is only insufficiently understood. We have examined the effect of IVIg in a mouse model of anti-laminin 332 MMP and found that IVIg ameliorates both cutaneous and mucosal inflammatory lesions. Our investigation into the modes of action of IVIg in MMP indicated ...

Prolonged suppressive antibiotic therapy for inferior vena cava filter infection following emphysematous pyelonephritis and cystitis: a case report
CONCLUSION: Infections of implanted devices, such as IVC filters, secondary to severe infections can cause persistent bacteremia. PSAT may be an alternative option to treat IVC filter infection, when the IVC filter is considered difficult to remove.PMID:38576969 | PMC:PMC10990323 | DOI:10.1097/MS9.0000000000001886 (Source: Annals of Medicine)

Identification of Risk Factors for Gliptin-associated Bullous Pemphigoid among Diabetic Patients
This study aimed at identifying risk factors for gliptin-associated bullous pemphigoid among patients with type 2 diabetes. A retrospective study was conducted in a tertiary centre among diabetic patients exposed to gliptins between the years 2008-2021. Data including demographics, comorbidities, medications, and laboratory results were collected using the MDClone platform. Seventy-six patients with type 2 diabetes treated with dipeptidyl-peptidase 4 inhibitors who subsequently developed bullous pemphigoid were compared with a cohort of 8,060 diabetic patients exposed to dipeptidyl-peptidase 4 inhibitors who did not develo...
