What is Ultrafast Ultrasound Imaging?
Ultrasound techniques currently used in echocardiography uses frame rates from 30-150 frames/s. This limits its temporal resolution for very short lived events, especially in pediatric and congenital heart disease with faster heart rates compared to adults [1]. While conventional ultrasound uses focused beam transmission, ultrafast ultrasound uses unfocused plane-wave ultrasound which can result in very high temporal resolution with frame rates up to 100 times faster [2]. Potential lower spatial resolution while using plane-wave is taken care of by using multiple plane-waves transmitted at slightly different angles with a ...

Nevertheless, there is a pressing concern that the underlying philosophy of these institutions is shifting, with financial pressures incentivizing competition rather than cooperation in the field of pediatrics. If hospitals were to dominate primary care, Read more… Assessing hospital involvement in pediatric primary care originally appeared in KevinMD.com. (Source: Kevin, M.D. - Medical Weblog)

What kind of AV block is this? And why does she develop Ventricular Tachycardia?
Discussion: The initial ECG in today ' s case is pathological for any patient, especially for a 50-year old previously heathy female. Extensive conduction system abnormalities can have various causes (ischemia, genetic, infectious, amyloid, etc). Usually the medical history will provide clues to the cause. Even though the primary suspicion was not ischemic heart disease, a CT angiogram was performed, and it revealed normal coronary arteries. This ruled out coronary disease as the cause of conduction system disease. When assessing patients with early onset high grade conduction disorders and ventricular tachydysrhythmi...

We do require financial partners and investment. However, it’s crucial to ensure that we align with the Read more… Navigating the growing interest of private equity in pediatrics originally appeared in KevinMD.com.
