Med School with an Infant
Hi All! Not sure if this is the right forum. I am nontrad and fortunate enough to be starting med school in the fall. Super excited! My wife and I are due to have our first child...... just when school starts! (due about 4 weeks into the semester) I know it will be challenging. I'm looking for pointers, experiences, etc. about navigating med school with an infant. Did this change if you went to lecture or not? Child care? Allocating study time, parenting, family time.. etc... Any... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Where do parents learn to be parents?
So parenting is probably among the most important things adults will do and obviously as we all know can have an unimaginable impact on the outcomes of children as they progress to adulthood. My question is where do adults learn to parent? Are there books that are psychologist approved they should be reading? I mean the average person is kind of dumb in my opinion and it seems shocking they are trusted with the life of another human without any gold standard resources from which they can... Parenting in my experiences section on AMCAS
Hello! I am a prospective medical student who is finishing up Junior year and filling out my AMCAS. My girlfriend and I are the parents of a wonderful 3 year old boy who has shaped our lives in more ways we could have imagined. I think that I would like to include being a parent as one of my meaningful experiences because being a parent has really allowed me to learn a lot of things about myself that I would not have otherwise. My question is has anyone else done this before and if so how... Parenting in my experiences section on AMCAS (Source: Student Doctor Network)

2018-2019 APPIC Internship- Students Who Are Parents
Disclaimer: I don't really know what I'm doing. With starting this thread. As a first time mom. As an internship applicant. Whoever mentioned daycare wait lists scared the crap out of me (because I've just avoided thinking about it!)...so here's our parenting-while-going-on-internship-interviews-we-must-be-out-of-our-minds thread! <quietly hoping I won't just be talking to myself here...not a good sign for an intern applicant> (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Anyone else here an embarrassment to their culture? How y'all doing?
I'm 27. I won't be ready to start med school till I'm at least 30-31 because of how long it's going to take fix my absolute dog**** of a GPA. To me that's old because I won't be able to get married, buy a house, or have kids till I'm 40. I know plenty of people do that during med school and residency, but I want to be able to provide a comfortable lifestyle for my kids and I think having children as a med student or a resident where you have no time or money is just irresponsible parenting.... +1 for an Interview?
Genuinely curious about this. Just found out that some IIs allow the applicant to bring a guest. Honestly, first thing that came to mind when I heard this was 'helicopter parenting.' I can understand bringing guests to a graduation/white coat ceremony, but to an interview? Can someone enlighten me with the reasons why some schools allow for this option?
