Fats and oils - a scoping review for Nordic Nutrition Recommendations 2023
Food Nutr Res. 2024 Feb 9;68. doi: 10.29219/fnr.v68.10487. eCollection 2024.ABSTRACTThis scoping review for the Nordic Nutrition Recommendations 2023 summarizes the available evidence on fats and oils from a food level perspective. A literature search for systematic reviews (SRs) and meta-analyses was conducted in PubMed. There are few SRs and meta-analyses available that investigate the association between fats and oils (food level) and health outcomes; the majority report associations at the nutrient level (fatty acid classes). All identified SRs and meta-analyses were of low methodological quality, thus the findings and...

Diverse impacts of red palm olein, extra virgin coconut oil and extra virgin olive oil on cardiometabolic risk markers in individuals with central obesity: a randomised trial
ConclusionThe three oils, each of which has unique phytonutrient and fatty acid compositions, manifested statistically similar cardiometabolic effects in individuals with central obesity at risk of developing cardiovascular diseases with distinct circulating antioxidant properties.Clinical trial registrationClinicalTrials.gov (NCT05791370). Molecules, Vol. 29, Pages 899: Efficient Capture of Cannabis Terpenes in Olive Oil during Microwave-Assisted Cannabinoid Decarboxylation
votto The development of selective extraction protocols for Cannabis-inflorescence constituents is still a significant challenge. The characteristic Cannabis fragrance can be mainly ascribed to monoterpenes, sesquiterpenes and oxygenated terpenoids. This work investigates the entrapment of Cannabis terpenes in olive oil from inflorescences via stripping under mild vacuum during the rapid microwave-assisted decarboxylation of cannabinoids (MW, 120 °C, 30 min) and after subsequent extraction of cannabinoids (60 and 100 °C). The profiles of the volatiles collected in the oil samples before and afte...

The key role of unsaturated olefin content on polysulfides prepared via inverse vulcanization of waste plant oils for mercury removal from wastewater
This study demonstrates that utilizing waste plant oils as monomer crosslinking agents to synthesize adsorbents for Hg2+ removal is feasible and effective.PMID:38363504 | DOI:10.1007/s11356-024-32452-5 (Source: Environmental Science and Pollution Research International)

Neuroprotective Effects of Curcumin against Chronic ChlorpyrifosInduced Oxidative Damage in Rat Brain Tissue
CONCLUSION: Our data establish that chronic exposure to CPF induced oxidative stress in brain tissue, which was reversed by CUR administration. Additional experimental and clinical investigations are needed to validate the efficacy of CUR as a potential antidote for CPF poisoning.PMID:38347791 | DOI:10.2174/0118746098244014240119112706 (Source: Current Aging Science)
