Introducing a new method to record injuries during military training: a prospective study among 296 young Norwegian conscripts
Conclusion The OSTRC-H2 is suitable for use in a military setting and records substantially more injuries than the standard medical record. The prevalence of injuries among conscripts is high and comparable with many elite sports. (Source: Journal of the Royal Army Medical Corps)

Spinocerebellar ataxia type 4 is not detected in a cohort from Hokkaido, the northernmost island of Japan
Since April 1982, we have been conducting genetic analysis of autosomal dominant spinocerebellar degeneration in Hokkaido [1 –3], the northernmost island of Japan, with a population of over 5 million people. Hokkaido is comparable to countries such as Denmark, Finland, and Norway. It is an island separated from the rest of Japan by the sea on all sides. Many of its inhabitants are descendants of settlers from various pa rts of Japan who arrived after the country's political reformation in 1868 (the Meiji Restoration). Sweden's excess mortality in 2020-2022 and reporting in the media
CONCLUSIONS: The report disregards residual confounding due to the broad definition of the period 2020-2022. Mass media should avoid one-sided reporting.PMID:38499977 | DOI:10.1177/14034948241239353 (Source: Scandinavian Journal of Public Health)

Rehabilitation models for community integration of adults with acquired brain injury in rural areas: a scoping review
CONCLUSION: The relatively low number of included articles and limited geographical distribution of studies indicate that more research is needed on rehabilitation models aimed at promoting CI in adults with ABI in rural areas. Although we identified several existing approaches to rehabilitation service provision in rural areas, there is still a need to develop models that fully consider the complexity and long-term nature of CI after ABI. The results also demonstrate that CI in rural areas not only is dependent on professional service delivery aimed at the individual with ABI but also can be promoted by supporting signifi...

Stable glioma incidence and increased patient survival over the past two decades in Norway: a nationwide registry-based cohort study
Acta Oncol. 2024 Mar 19;63:83-94. doi: 10.2340/1651-226X.2024.24970.ABSTRACTBACKGROUND: Surveillance of incidence and survival of central nervous system tumors is essential to monitor disease burden and epidemiological changes, and to allocate health care resources. Here, we describe glioma incidence and survival trends by histopathology group, age, and sex in the Norwegian population.MATERIAL AND METHODS: We included patients with a histologically verified glioma reported to the Cancer Registry of Norway from 2002 to 2021 (N = 7,048). Population size and expected mortality were obtained from Statistics Norway. Cases were ...

GSE245916 Species-specific responses during Seoul orthohantavirus infection in human and rat lung microvascular endothelial cells
In this study, host responses to SEOV infection in primary human and rat LMECs were directly compared on a transcriptional level. As infection of rat LMECs was more efficient than human LMECs, most anti-viral defense responses were also observed earlier in rat LMECs. Most prominently SEOV-induced processes in both species included responses to cytokine stimulus, negative regulation of innate immune responses, responses to type I and II interferons, regulation of pattern recognition receptor signaling and MHC-I signaling. However, over time, in the rat LMECs, responses shifted from an anti-viral towards a more immunotolera...

Rare copy number variation in autoimmune Addison ’s disease
In conclusion, rare CNVs do not appear to be a major cause of AAD but further studies are needed to ascertain the potential contribution of rare deletions to the polygenic load of AAD susceptibility. (Source: Frontiers in Immunology)
