I’m often asked about my take on patient engagement. These buzzwords are losing their meaning. Frankly, I find myself at a loss to answer, even though I say patient engagement is my passion. Engagement from whose point of view?

Discussion centered on confusion that might occur if parallel conversations take place in the original board community and a more open forum as a result of replicating content to make it available more broadly. Another potential issue: members could copy & paste or do screenshots and share outside the SPM community. Discussion followed with Peter cautioning that we need to balance wisdom from founders with the need to respond to current issues to remain relevant. Sue doesn’t think goals have changed much, so it’s really a matter of prioritizing. Neither Dave Dolton nor Danny Sands sees risk in interviewing founders.

SPM had a good number of members attending the HIMSS18 conference. We awarded patient travel funds to about 8 people. Danny suggested that we offer more guidance to patient award recipients next time to prepare them for the massive HIMSS annual conference.
