International study shows improved outcomes for psoriasis patients
Interim results from one of the largest and longest clinical trials ever conducted for a topical treatment in psoriasis* showed that after eight weeks of treatment with calcipotriol/betamethasone dipropionate (Daivobet® gel), the treatment was highly efficacious, preferred by patients and improved patients' and the physicians’ assessments of disease severity. Building a better world for people with psoriasis
On World Psoriasis Day, the International Federation of Psoriasis Associations, IFPA, brings attention to the tools respondents from 90 countries have identified to help build a better world for people with psoriasis, by participating in an online survey launched in June. Lynparza™ (olaparib) receives positive CHMP opinion in the EU
AstraZeneca announced that the Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP) of the European Medicines Agency (EMA) has adopted a positive opinion recommending the marketing authorisation of Lynparza™ (olaparib) as monotherapy for the maintenance treatment of adult patients with platinum sensitive relapsed BRCA-mutated (germline and/or somatic) high grade serous epithelial ovarian, fallopian tube or primary peritoneal cancer who are in response (complete or partial) to platinum-based chemotherapy. Ulcerative colitis patients who have had a colectomy continue to experience symptoms
New research shows that the majority of patients with the challenging inflammatory bowel disease, ulcerative colitis (UC), state that the three biggest impacts of the disease on their lives are on their emotional state (in terms of depression, anger or anxiety levels) (76%), ability to get adequate rest/sleep (75%), and taking sick days off work (70%). New findings from PSOLAR show persistency difference among biologic therapies
Janssen-Cilag International NV reported new findings at the annual meeting of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (EADV) showing significantly better persistency and lower rates of discontinuation with STELARA® (ustekinumab) therapy in comparison to anti-tumour necrosis factor (TNF)-alpha treatments among patients participating in Psoriasis Longitudinal Assessment and Registry (PSOLAR), a post-marketing registry following patients with moderate to severe plaque psoriasis. Bayer HealthCare announces it is pleased that the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) clinical guideline for the management of Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in primary and secondary care (CG186) recognises the multi-faceted nature of the disease and the complex needs of people with MS. Bayer welcomes the recommendation that MS patients should have a single point of contact and a comprehensive annual review but are disappointed that the guideline did not recommend Sativex® as a treatment option for moderate to severe spasticity.
