Interventricular Interactions in Congenital Heart Disease
Multimodality assessment of size, shape, deformation and function is key to understanding Interventricular interactions in Congenital Heart Disease. The joint session between the EACVI and ASE explored interventricular interactions across a wide range of Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) lesions, where disease in the right ventricle (RV) has a major impact on left ventricular (LV) function. Heart disease patients advised to avoid being outside in rush hour traffic
Experts recommend reducing air pollution exposure and decreasing use of fossil fuels: Obese people and those with diabetes may be at higher risk of the cardiovascular effects of pollution, while air pollutants may exacerbate and instigate the development of risk factors such as high blood pressure and impaired insulin sensitivity. EACVI: Multimodality imaging is here and now!
EuroEcho-Imaging 2014 has proved a great cardiovascular imaging congress! Attendance has been exceptionally high, probably the highest ever obtained for this congress, demonstrating a growing interest among cardiologists in both echocardiography and multimodality imaging. Innovations in interventional imaging define need for new guidance
The role of the cardiovascular (CV) imager has become increasingly central for the delivery of percutaneous procedures in cardiology, with the advent of new imaging tools and devices transforming the landscape and making it now necessary for the EACVI to revisit imaging recommendations. How the EACVI echo, CMR and nuclear cardiology and CT sections work together
In January 2014, the ESC integrated the working groups for Cardiac Magnetic Resonance, Nuclear Cardiology/ Cardiac Computed Tomography and the European Association of Echocardiography (EAE) into one unified multimodality structure called the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging (EACVI). Here one year on the chairpersons of the different groups look back on their achievements and discuss plans for the future. Scientific Document Committee grapples with need for CV imaging evidence-base
Over the past two years the EACVI Scientific Documents Committee has been extremely industrious producing 12 recommendation, position and expert consensus papers for publication in an effort to define the most appropriate use of different cardiovascular (CV) imaging technologies. The Scientific Documents Committee shares a common goal with the EACVI to ensure the best use of CV imaging diagnostic resources for a given individual, and prevent both over and under use of the different modalities. Mediterranean diet linked to improved CV function in erectile dysfunction patients
Erectile dysfunction is not a symptom of ageing, it is a bad sign from the body that something is wrong with the vasculature. In 80% of cases erectile dysfunction is caused by vascular problems and is a warning that patients are at increased risk of a heart attack or stroke. The Mediterranean diet could help erectile dysfunction patients lower their risk of a heart attack.
