Radiation therapy of breast cancer in the Nahe Breast Center: first results of an analysis in the context of health services research
ConclusionThe results of radiotherapy for breast carcinoma at the Nahe Breast Center are comparable to published national and international results. In particular, the local recurrence rates in our study, determined absolutely and actuarially, are excellent, and demonstrate the usefulness of radiotherapy. (Source: Strahlentherapie und Onkologie)

Interdisciplinary Spanish consensus on a watch-and-wait approach for rectal cancer
AbstractWatch-and-wait has emerged as a new strategy for the management of rectal cancer when a complete clinical response is achieved after neoadjuvant therapy. In an attempt to standardize this new clinical approach, initiated by the Spanish Cooperative Group for the Treatment of Digestive Tumors (TTD), and with the participation of the Spanish Association of Coloproctology (AECP), the Spanish Society of Pathology (SEAP), the Spanish Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (SEED), the Spanish Society of Radiation Oncology (SEOR), and the Spanish Society of Medical Radiology (SERAM), we present herein a consensus on a watch...

Outcomes of neoadjuvant chemotherapy and radical hysterectomy for locally advanced cervical cancer at Kigali University Teaching Hospital, Rwanda: a retrospective descriptive study
Half of countries in Africa lack access to radiation (RT), which is essential for standard treatment of locally advanced cervical cancers. We evaluated outcomes for patients treated with neoadjuvant chemothera... (Source: BMC Women's Health)

Clinical recommendations for treatment of localized angiosarcoma: A consensus paper by the Italian Sarcoma Group
Angiosarcoma (AS) is a rare and aggressive vascular sarcoma. The current European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO) clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) for the treatment of sarcomas apply to AS as well. However, AS aggressiveness and diverse tumor presentations differentiate it from other sarcomas, impacting clinical decisions. This is especially relevant in the context of localized disease, where considerations about the extent of surgery, the use of radiation therapy (RT), and the indication for neoadjuvant/adjuvant chemotherapy may vary. Association between microsatellite status and characteristics and outcomes of early-onset compared to late-onset rectal cancer
ConclusionsIn both age groups, MSI-H rectal cancers were more often mucinous and poorly differentiated carcinomas and had pT3-4 stage more often than MSS cancers. MSI-H rectal cancers tend to present less often with distant metastases and nodal involvement than MSS cancers only in early-onset, but not in late-onset rectal cancers. The association between MSI status and survival was not notable in this study, whether in the early-onset or late-onset groups. (Source: International Journal of Colorectal Disease)

Timing of Surgery and Social Determinants of Health Related to Pathologic Complete Response after Total Neoadjuvant Therapy for Rectal Adenocarcinoma: Retrospective Study of National Cancer Database
This study utilized the National Cancer Database (NCDB) to retrospectively analyze 5997 stage-appropriate RAC cases treated with TNT from 2016 to 2020. The overall pCR rate was 18.6%, with most patients undergoing induction chemotherapy followed by long-course chemoradiation (81.5%). Multivariable logistic regression models revealed a significant non-linear relationship between the rest period and pCR (p = 0.033), with optimal odds at 14.7-15.9 weeks post radiation (odds ratio: 1.49, 95% confidence interval: 1.13-1.98) when compared to 4.0 weeks. Medicaid, distance to the treatment facility, and community education were as...
