A scoping review of music-based interventions for swallowing difficulties: implications for treating older adults with presbyphagia
CONCLUSION: Singing entails a systematic and focused incorporation of stepwise activities that can be used to address swallowing disorders. In this context, critical clinical implications that music therapists should consider when treating individuals with presbyphagia include warmup breathing, vocalizing targeting laryngeal control, and singing targeting oral motor control. This review can contribute to the expansion of music therapy with older adults and the advancement of music therapy techniques.PMID:38034547 | PMC:PMC10687455 | DOI:10.3389/fmed.2023.1285835 (Source: Cancer Control)

Evaluation of the Use, Reasons, and Satisfaction with the Complementary Medicine among Patients Living with a Permanent Ostomy
Evid Based Complement Alternat Med. 2023 Nov 21;2023:2228593. doi: 10.1155/2023/2228593. eCollection 2023.ABSTRACTPatients living with a permanent ostomy encounter many physical, psychological, and social challenges due to the loss of function of a part of their body. Today, as the use of alternative therapies increases, some of these patients are seeking complementary medicine to relieve the symptoms and complications of their disease. Therefore, the present study aimed to determine the use of, reasons for, and satisfaction with the complementary medicine among patients living with a permanent ostomy. This descriptive cro...

Effect of Selected Music Soundtracks on Cardiac Vagal Control and Complexity Assessed by Heart Rate Variability
CONCLUSIONS: Our findings revealed a rise of cardio-vagal modulation and higher complexity assessed by short-term HRV indices suggesting positive relaxing effect music especially of higher frequency on human organism.PMID:38015758 (Source: Physiological Research)
