Immunocytochemical localization of nitric oxide synthase-containing neurons in the visual cortex of the Mongolian gerbil
CONCLUSIONS: Our findings of the laminar distribution and morphological characteristics of NOS-IR neurons, as well as the colocalization patterns of NOS-IR neurons with NPY, SST, and GABA, indicated the presence of species-specific differences, suggesting the functional diversity of NO in the visual cortex. This study provides valuable data on the anatomical organization of NOS-IR cells and, consequently, a better understanding of the functional aspects of NO and species diversity.PMID:38563048 | DOI:10.5603/fhc.99227 (Source: Folia Histochemica et Cytobiologica)

Barriers and enablers to accessing child health resources and services: Findings from qualitative interviews with Arabic and Mongolian immigrant mothers in Australia
CONCLUSION: The findings of this study highlight the importance of addressing the needs of migrant mothers in accessing child health information. Health professionals, government agencies, and researchers have an opportunity to provide culturally responsive support by fostering a culturally inclusive approach to developing and promoting equitable access to services and resources, ultimately enhancing the wellbeing of migrant families.PMID:38561970 | PMC:PMC10989050 | DOI:10.1177/17455057241242674 (Source: Rural Remote Health)

Whole-genome resequencing of Chinese indigenous sheep provides insight into the genetic basis underlying climate adaptation
CONCLUSIONS: Analysis of the signatures of selection uncovered genes that are likely related to environmental adaptation and a SNP missense mutation in the TSHR gene that affects the protein structure and stability. It also provides information on the evolution of the phylogeographic structure of Chinese indigenous sheep populations. These results provide important genetic resources for future breeding studies and new perspectives on how animals can adapt to climate change.PMID:38565986 | PMC:PMC10988870 | DOI:10.1186/s12711-024-00880-z (Source: Genet Sel Evol)
