Int J Syst Evol Microbiol. 2024 Jan;74(1). doi: 10.1099/ijsem.0.006216.ABSTRACTA novel ligninase-producing and cellulose-degrading actinobacterium, designated strain NEAU-A12T, was isolated from a soil sample collected from Aohan banner, Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, PR China. A polyphasic taxonomic study was used to establish the status of strain NEAU-A12T. 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis revealed that strain NEAU-A12T belonged to the genus Actinoplanes and showed the highest similarity (98.3 %) to Actinoplanes palleronii DSM 43940T, while showing less than 98.3 % similarity to other members of the genus...

Overgrazing on unmanaged grassland interfered with the restoration of adjacent grazing-banned grassland by affecting soil properties and microbial community
A “grazing ban” policy has been implemented in some pastoral areas in China to fence degraded grasslands for restoration. However, fencing increased grazing pressures in unmanaged grasslands. Based on the mechanism of negative edge effect, we investigated whether overgrazing on unmanaged grassland interfered with the restoration of adjacent grazing-banned grassland by affecting soil properties and microbial community using a sample in Hulun Buir of Inner Mongolia, in order to optimize the “grazing ban” policy. Plant and soil were sampled in areas 30 m away from the fence in unmanaged grassland (UM) and in areas 3...

Identification of novel candidate genes associated with non-syndromic tooth agenesis in Mongolian families
ConclusionsThe study identified various genetic variant candidates associated with TA in different family groups, with PITX2 being the most commonly identified. Our findings suggest that MAST4 may also be a novel candidate gene for TA due to its association with the Wnt signaling pathway. Additionally, we found that five candidate genes related to focal adhesion and calcium channel complex were significant and essential in tooth development.Clinical relevanceIdentifying new pathogenic genes associated with TA can improve our understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying the disease, leading to better diagnosis, prev...

"I established a life; I can re-establish it again": Lived experiences of intimate partner violence in Mongolia
This study highlights a critical shift in mindset and behavior by investigating the survival experiences of women who defy social norms, prioritizing family unity over personal well-being. Recognition of survivors' efforts to cease self-blame and seek support signifies a crucial advancement in the survival process. The findings suggest a positive trend toward self-empowerment and a willingness to access the necessary resources and support systems. From a practical standpoint, these findings advocate for strengthening current interventions that empower survivors to challenge norms, cease self-blame, and actively seek assist...

Characteristics of soil contamination by potentially toxic elements in mine areas of Mongolia
AbstractSoil contamination by potentially toxic elements (PTEs), such as metal(loid)s, in mining areas was characterized on a nationwide scale in Mongolia to understand the contamination status throughout the country, according to mine types. Positive matrix factorization (PMF) analysis exhibited better classification and explanation of soil contamination according to ore types compared to conventional statistical analysis methods such as principal component analysis (PCA) and hierarchical cluster analysis (HCA). The results of PMF analysis for metal(loid) contents in 1425 topsoil samples collected from 272 mines illuminat...
