Clinical analysis of metaplastic breast carcinoma with distant metastases: A multi ‑centre experience
Oncol Lett. 2024 Mar 8;27(5):198. doi: 10.3892/ol.2024.14331. eCollection 2024 May.ABSTRACTMetaplastic breast cancer (BC-Mp), which includes a range of epithelial and mixed epithelial-mesenchymal tumours, are rare malignancies with an unfavourable prognosis. The limited literature on BC-Mp focuses mainly on retrospective data for radically treated patients. Notably absent are studies dedicated to the palliative treatment of BC-Mp with distant metastases. The present retrospective study investigated treatment modalities and prognosis in a multi-centre cohort of 31 female participants diagnosed with distant metastatic BC-Mp,...

Case report: An atypical case of uterine adenosarcoma with extensive bizarre stromal cells and amplification of MDM2
Polypoid lesions in the uterus are very common. There are a lot of benign lesions and malignant tumor should be considered. Adenosarcoma, one of the differential diagnoses, is a rare mixed epithelial and mesenchymal tumor consisting of benign epithelial components and sarcoma stroma. Here, we present a case of atypical adenosarcoma that has never been reported. This tumor was composed of benign endometrial epithelium and hyperplastic stroma with extensive bizarre stromal cells. But the cleft-like spaces and papillary stomal fronds which were the typical histological images of adenosarcoma were absent. These stomal cells, i...

Multilocular cystic nephroma in an adult: a diagnostic quandary
AbstractMultilocular cystic nephroma (MLCN) is an unusual, benign slow-growing renal cystic neoplasm which mimics other cystic renal lesions and has such clinical, radiological, and morphological features  that causes diagnostic dilemma. MLCN lies in the spectrum of mixed epithelial and stromal tumor (MEST) family of kidney. According to World Health Organization (WHO 2016 classification), MEST encompasses spectrum of tumors ranging from predominantly cystic tumors, adult cystic nephroma (ACN) to tu mors that are variably solid (MEST), thus creating diagnostic dilemma. Moreover, it has several benign and malignant differe...

Racial, ethnic and country of origin disparities in aggressive endometrial cancer histologic subtypes
CONCLUSIONS: Risk of an aggressive EC diagnosis varied by race, ethnicity, and country of origin. NHB patients had the highest risk, followed by Dominican, South/Central American, Cuban, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, and Filipino descendants.PMID:38277919 | DOI:10.1016/j.ygyno.2024.01.009 (Source: Gynecologic Oncology)

Bilateral Primordial Odontogenic Tumour of Mandible: A Rare Case Report
AbstractPrimordial odontogenic tumour is a recently categorised rare benign mixed epithelial and mesenchymal odontogenic tumour which occurs most frequently in first two decades of life. It is composed of cellular myxoid connective tissue lined by cuboidal to columnar odontogenic epithelium resembling inner enamel epithelium in early stages of tooth development. Here, we are presenting a unique case of bilateral primordial odontogenic tumour of mandible in a paediatric patient. (Source: Journal of Maxillofacial and Oral Surgery)

Two case reports of mixed epithelial and stromal renal tumor of kidney in children and literature review analysis
Indian J Pathol Microbiol. 2023 Oct-Dec;66(4):845-847. doi: 10.4103/ijpm.ijpm_148_22.ABSTRACTMixed epithelial and stromal tumor of the kidney (MESTK) occurs almost exclusively in perimenopausal women while rarely in children. Only five pediatric patients have been described previously. Herein, we report a girl and a boy with MESTK, aged 3- and 4-years-old, respectively. The two patients presented with hematuria or an abdominal mass. Histologically, the tumors were both composed of epithelial and stromal elements. Immunohistochemical staining of tumor cells expressed epithelial and mesenchymal component markers. They were d...
