Predental To Premed Switch
Hey everyone, so as the title says, I applied this past cycle to dental schools, but have not received any acceptances. Here's some background info: - I came to the US in 2015 and was born in Iraq. - 3.50 cGPA, a 3.33 sGPA, and a 20 AA/21TS score on the DAT if it matters. - Physiology major with a biochemistry minor. - Initially, I was an undecided engineering major and I was not really a fan, so, I switched to physio. - My first 2 semesters ended with a GPA of 2.5 and 2.75, respectively... People familiar with declaring a state of residence on AMCAS, what are your thoughts on my situation?
So I have an interesting situation on my hands. I was born and raised in the US (Kentucky) but moved overseas with my family and graduated high school in the United Arab Emirates before coming to the US alone for uni where I now am in Michigan. To make my situation even more complicated, my family has recently moved back to the US ( KY) and I file as a dependent. My question is, what state would I be considered a resident of? I graduate in December of this year and plan on applying in the... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Supernatural: Villains WW Game Thread
The Men of Letters Bunker Lebanon, Kansas “I think the world’s gonna end bloody. But it doesn’t mean we shouldn’t fight. We do have choices. I choose to go down swingin’.” Dean Winchester tapped the table with his fingers. Castiel was late again. What the hell was that angel up to this time? And why hadn't he called if he was going to get held up? "You know, you look like a jilted lover when you scowl like that," Crowley smirked. Dean scowled harder. "I'm sure your angel... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

What's up with Sackler
I've been reading about Sackler all day and I am still so confused about its accreditation. It seems like at some point it was a US accredited school, but after visiting the following link, Accredited U.S. Programs | LCME it appears it no longer is. How does this affect match rates and education as a whole? Is it even worth applying to anymore? Would love to hear any and all thoughts. Thank you! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Is it common for surgeons to have bad back problems?
Good afternoon y'all! MS1 here interested in going into surgery. I had a discussion with a current surgeon at my school who mentioned having back problems directly related to the amount of time she spends operating. Just curious, is this a common thing for surgeons? What do y'all do to help take care of your back? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

To what extent can Benzoyl Peroxide kill Demodex mites?
Any peer-reviewed evidence for the quotation below, written by Dr. Cynthia Bailey BA Mills College (1976-80), MD Tulane (1980-85)? If so, what concentration of Benzoyl Peroxide suffices? 2.5%? 5%? Several years ago, I attended an American Academy of Dermatology lecture given by a physician practicing in Israel where they use benzoyl peroxide for Demodex. Permethrin is not available there and this physician said she gets good control of facial Demodex infestation and rosacea... Click to expand... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
