Methods and considerations for estimating parameters in biophysically detailed neural models with simulation based inference
by Nicholas Tolley, Pedro L. C. Rodrigues, Alexandre Gramfort, Stephanie R. Jones Biophysically detailed neural models are a powerful technique to study neural dynamics in health and disease with a growing number of established and openly available models. A major challenge in the use of such models is that parameter inference is an inherently difficult and unsolved problem. Identifying unique parameter distributions that can account for observed neural dynamics, and differences across experimental conditions, is essential to their meaningful use. Recently, simulation based inference (SBI) has been proposed as an approach...

A Systematic Review of Pharyngeal High-Resolution Manometry Normative Data
CONCLUSIONS: Due to the wide variety of protocols, catheter configurations, manufacturers, and software used in the existing literature, it is difficult to formulate consensus on HPRM normative values using pooled data. Prospective studies adhering to standardized HRPM protocols for specific catheter configurations and manufacturers with larger cohorts of normal individuals are necessary to establish proper reference values for HRPM metrics.SUPPLEMENTAL MATERIAL: https://doi.org/10.23641/asha.24843753.PMID:38127890 | DOI:10.1044/2023_AJSLP-23-00221 (Source: American Journal of Speech-Language Pathology)

Changes In Meaningful Non-Drug Therapy Use Among U.S. Military Veterans Within A Comparative Effectiveness Trial Augmenting Primary Care Management Of Chronic Pain
Non-drug therapies (NDTs) are first-line chronic pain treatments. The Veterans' Pain Care Organizational Improvement Comparative Effectiveness (VOICE) trial enrolled veterans with chronic pain prescribed long-term opioid therapy. This secondary analysis assessed changes in participants' meaningful use of NDTs for pain. From October 2017 –March 2021, 821 veterans enrolled in VOICE, a pragmatic trial of integrated pain team vs. telecare collaborative management at 10 sites. Patients reported behavioral (relaxation, meditation, psychotherapy), exercise (stretching/strengthening, aerobic, yoga, and tai chi), and manual (acup...

Report from the Retreat on Meaningful Use
I'm afraid that if we don't drill down on our brand equity on the front end, we'll have to model it out on the back end to align our incentives or pad our ask regarding the co-branding deliverables on the horizon. This empowerment is going to require getting under the covers to facilitate a paradigm shift in order to achieve buy-in among the stakeholders if we're going to tip our toe into that water and get the low hanging fruit before our clients incentivize the burning platform with new metrics. Commentary on Electronic Health Record Usability and Post-Surgical Outcomes Among Older Adults with Dementia
Since the passage of the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act in February of 2009, there has been mounting pressure for adoption and meaningful use (MU) of electronic health records (EHRs) in both inpatient and outpatient health systems (1). EHRs play a critical role in the evolution of technology-based U.S. healthcare systems, and through federal reimbursement and incentive programs, the adoption rate has drastically increased from 9% in hospitals and 17% in office-based physicians in 2008, to 96% and 78%, respectively, in 2021 (2). The 31-gene expression profile test informs sentinel lymph node biopsy decisions in patients with cutaneous melanoma: results of a prospective, multicenter study
CONCLUSION: In this prospective, multicenter study, clinicians demonstrated clinically meaningful use of the 31-GEP test to forego or pursue SLNB in patients with T1-T2 tumors resulting in a significant, risk appropriate decrease in SLNBs.PMID:36617959 | DOI:10.1080/03007995.2023.2165813 (Source: Current Medical Research and Opinion)
