Surgical management of mediastinal mature cystic teratoma of the elderly remaining asymptomatic

Neonatal Sacrococcygeal Fetiform Teratoma Containing Bowel: A Case Report
European J Pediatr Surg Rep. 2024; 12: e11-e15 DOI: 10.1055/a-2206-4825A fetiform sacrococcygeal teratoma (homunculus) is a highly differentiated subgroup of mature cystic teratoma that resembles a malformed fetus. These tumors originate at the base of the coccyx and may vary in their intrapelvic and extrapelvic extent and location. It is important to differentiate this anomaly from fetus-in-fetu which has a higher degree of structural organization. A 5-day-old neonate presented with a type II sacrococcygeal fetiform teratoma. The mass contained both cystic and solid components. Upon surgical excision and coccygectomy, ful...

MRI findings of malignant transformation arising from mature cystic teratoma of the ovary: comparison with benign mature cystic teratoma
ConclusionCompared with BMCT, MT-MCT demonstrated a larger maximum diameter, lower occupancy rate of fat components, and sessile solid components. The characteristic configuration of solid components was endophytic or exophytic sessile in MT-MCT and endophytic papillary in BMCT. (Source: Japanese Journal of Radiology)

Primary Right Adrenal Teratoma in a Postmenopausal Female: a Case Report and Review of Literature
We report a rare case of a primary right adrenal teratoma in a postmenopausal female, presenting with abdominal pain. Ultrasound revealed a complex cystic shadow in the perihepatic region superior to the upper pole of the right kidney, which was suggestive of a complex supra-renal space-sequence-occupying lesion. Computerized tomography revealed a large-sized mature single multilobulated complex cystic lesion in the right hypochondrial lumbar region arising from the right adrenal gland. A right-sided transperitoneal adrenalectomy was performed. The resected mass (18 × 13 × 10 cm) was well encapsulated. Cut surfaces showe...

Mature teratoma of liver in an adult male patient
We present a case of a 27-year-old male with a history of abdominal pain of 5 months duration. CT scan revealed liver mass suggesting teratoma. The patient underwent cholecystectomy and segmental liver resection. Histopathology revealed mature cystic teratoma. Complete resection remains the best treatment option. Teratomas of the liver are extremely rare, constituting < 1% of all teratomas. An extensive review of the literature yielded < 50 cases of primary hepatic teratomas with only a dozen cases in adults and only two cases in males.PMID:38084546 | DOI:10.4103/ijpm.ijpm_430_21 (Source: Indian Journal of Pathology and Microbiology)
