In conclusion, our findings suggest that defensive medicine is a common phenomenon among psychiatrists and their position of guarantee drives this attitude. Education on legal implications and risk management should be provided starting from the university and continuing over time, to improve the knowledge of young and senior doctors on professional liability and inform their decision-making processes. This would also reduce defensive practices and improve the quality of healthcare. We read with great interest the article entitled “Testicular torsion is overrepresented among malpractice cases for gonadal torsion” submitted by Clennon et al [1]. The authors have evaluated gonadal torsion in terms of medicolegal outcomes using the Westlaw Jury Verdicts& Settlments and Lexis Databases. What the authorsfound in this study is very interesting. Pattern and outcomes of medical malpractice cases in Ghana: a systematic content analysis
CONCLUSIONS: The pattern of the cases suggests that all medical specialties are potentially at risk, although most of the cases emerged from Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Surgery, and Paediatrics.
