Pretreatment antithrombotic strategies in non-ST elevation acute coronary syndromes in contemporaneous clinical practice
CONCLUSION: NSTE-ACS patients pretreated with SAPT had worse in-hospital outcomes. This difference can be probably explained by a delay in time until revascularization. Pretreatment DAPT strategy and crossover between heparins is still frequently used in clinical practice.PMID:37956770 | DOI:10.1016/j.hjc.2023.11.003 (Source: Hellenic Journal of Cardiology)

Use of direct oral anticoagulants and low molecular weight heparin in venous thromboembolism associated with cancer: real-world evidence in Argentina
CONCLUSIONS: DOACs and strategy A were the most frequently used agent and strategy, respectively. There were no differences between medications or strategies used. The results must be interpreted with caution, it is a retrospective single-center study, probably with information and selection bias.PMID:37955142 | DOI:10.1080/17474086.2023.2281945 (Source: Expert Review of Hematology)

Venous Thromboembolism Prophylaxis In Shoulder Surgery: A Break-Even Cost-Effectiveness Study
Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is a serious complication following orthopedic shoulder surgery; however, research is limited involving the break-even cost-effectiveness of VTE prophylaxis. The purpose of this study was to determine if the cost of aspirin and enoxaparin would break even for VTE prevention in patients following shoulder surgery. Lethal pulmonary embolism in a pregnant woman with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 receiving prophylactic anticoagulation: a case report
ConclusionsThis case demonstrates that in the management of pregnancy and childbirth in patients with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 infection, special attention should be paid to coagulation system parameters and timely appropriate prophylaxis of thromboembolic complications, which has yet to be determined. Impact of low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) on SARS-CoV2 Infection: HEPARIN SARS-CoV2 clinical trial.
Conclusions: No differences were found in the evolution of COVID between the two treatment groups for the profile of patients included in the trial. The increase in LMWH at an intermediate dose does not contribute benefits in a profile of patients with COVID who required hospitalization, but who had a favorable evolution in most of them. Anti-factor Xa level monitoring of low-molecular-weight heparin for prevention of venous thromboembolism in critically ill patients (AXaLPE): protocol of a randomised, open-label controlled clinical trial
This study is a randomised controlled trial to investigate the effect of aFXa level monitoring on reducing VTE and to establish a new method for accurately preventing VTE in critically ill patients with low-molecular-weight heparin (LMWH). Methods and analysis A randomised controlled trial is planned in two centres with a planned sample size of 858 participants. Participants will be randomly assigned to three groups receiving LMWH prophylaxis at a 1:1:1 ratio: in group A, peak aFXa levels will serve as the guide for the LMWH dose; in group B, the trough aFXa levels will serve as the guide for the LMWH dose; and in group C...
